Tesna Sale APPROVED *and* AN is a Star Alliance Member

Just back from the creditors meeting, and surprised noone else has trumped me!! Sale approved by overwhealming margin.

Also released news of Ansett/Tesna reaching agreement with Star Alliance to be a member again.

woohoo!

The news reports mentioned 'paperwork' and 'outstanding issues' regarding the transfer of operations, and neither of the reports thus far have mentioned Friday as the start up date.

This was quite a shock to myself, because I was still under the impression that if the sale was approved Friday was the 'startup' date.

Does anyone have any info?

Best Regards

Bradley

This will teach me not to do my homework... (from: http://www.smh.com.au/news/0201/29/b...ztech103.html)

"Mr Korda told the meeting earlier that the proposed handover of Ansett to Tesna would be deferred for up to 30 days.

The Tesna syndicate had been expected to launch the revamped airline on Friday if creditors approved the sale today."

The handover was supposed to happen on Friday, but now Tesna has an extra 30 days.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif For those of us going down on Friday.

The delays, according to Korda (who seems like a nice bloke, incidently) are with third parties (eg: Syd airports corp over the SYD domestic terminal). The way I understood what they were saying, and in answer to a question from a staff member, was that Fri 01 Feb would still go ahead as planned, but the legal stuff, paperwork etc would be delayed.

ie: I still think GW club and meals will operate on 01Feb, although they mentioned they expected Fox/Lew to announce their FF scheme "in the next 7 days"(yeah, we've heard that one before). Supposedly we'd all be "very very happy" with that they have to offer.

We'll see.

Unfortunately I didn't get to listen to the webcast and found out on the news. I was shaking cos I was so nervous bout the news (how sad am I! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif) Anyway, I hope Ansett starts full-service ops on Friday, then at least we'll have something to celebrate by flying them on 01/02!! Btw, I rang Ansett Reservations before to check that the new schedules will still be starting on Friday, and the woman I spoke to didn't even know a thing about it! Just said "Oh, did you hear something on the news? We haven't heard a thing down here yet!"

Skystar Jan 29, 2002 12:46 am

I was there http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I wonder how fun Friday will be now, seeing Tesna's a bit slow.

Having said that, they'd have to do something for Business Class pax (now C class, instead of J), if they weren't going to do it properly.

Cheers,

Justin

So was I...

I didn't have enough GR points for it to really matter if I lost the points or not, I just wanted to show my support to my airline, and to the staff...

Oh, and for those that missed the webcast, it's archived online at http://www.ansett.com.au/administrator/ - so you can hear first hand what went on.

Richard we thought we would wait until you gave us the good news.

Must all a dampener on celebrations for 1 Feb.

I am surprised that the people in reservations didn't know what was going on. If I were them I would been a little on edge and had a radio, TV, mobile phone or computer on trying to find out what happened or had co-workers who would have been at the creditors meeting.
That Sydney airport lease could be a little bit of a problem.

What he didn't tell you, is he went straight back to his office after the meeting, so he could post to FT...*duck*

RichardMEL Jan 29, 2002 5:30 am

Skystar - Justin - where were you sitting?? We were wondering if you were there or not!!!! I had a FT tag!!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/tongue.gif

And yes, I did go back to my office and got dumped with a load of work for my trouble... so it was a quick post..

then off to see "Bugs Bunny on Broadway" - somehow appropriate to watch Looney Tunes after the Ansett fiasco....

Richard,

I was on the left hand side (from the Marks' view). What are these FT tags (are they homemade)?

Reservations don't know what's going on. Website still says Golden Wing Lounges are being upgraded. Live Help tells me we will have catering onboard and Business Class, but no FF points.

Catering is apparently in boxes...

Cheers,

Justin

Justin click on the "Store" icon to see what the FT tags look like - they're produced by Flyertalk. Bright fluro yellow. So you were around the staff area? Ansett, Ansett, Ansett!! Oi! Oi! Oi! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif
