IF the sale to Tesna is NOT approved....
 

Does that mean AN stops flying on 31 Jan? That's my reading of the notices to creditors....

Well, I don't know that we *would* get out money back. Remember the govt is only supporting AN tix until 31 Jan. You'd think/hope they'd refund you, but who knows?! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

I'd expect it would mean the end. (gulp)

It's a high-risk venture, with the refusal to honour FF points, there might be a slightly higher chance of the sale not being approved. Though, that would mean QF profits through the roof and unbearable fares.

Tesna's meant to have some cash travel fund which will refund tix if they don't fly.

I found the answer to my question at the AnsttSTARS website:

Will my booking be safe?
Yes. The Federal Government has agreed to underwrite newly purchased Ansett Mark II tickets for flights up to and including January 31 2002. The Tesna consortium has negotiated a facility to "cash secure" all tickets bought by credit card for travel from February 1, 2002. This means that client funds will not be released until travel is availed.
