Golden Wing @ SYD did not allow me in on UA*G

Just as a data point to confuse people after someone else here reported getting access to the GW Club with their *G card - I was (nicely) denied access on Sunday by the sole agent there with the stated reason "We have no relationship with Star Alliance right now" (despite the huge Star Alliance Gold loto just outside!).

So it seems to depend on whoever is manning the door as to who gets in and who doesn't. Not that it really matters much, but I just wanted to see what would happen.

FYI.

Richard,

You didn't miss much, I was in the Golden Wing lounge on the w/end and it is rather quiet and sad. They have a couple of vending machines for drinks and that is about it. They also let me take 3 friends in without any question which was good.

I walked straight into the MEL GW lounge as a Star nothing a few weeks back http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

It's quite true - you don't miss much at the moment.

Cheers,

Justin

I just wanted to feel exclusive when I bought my can of coke http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

no huhu though. The agent was absolutely (oops) nice about it and I wasn't fussed. I had an hour to wait and SYD was so dead it was depressing, so I thought "well give it a go" and nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Richard,

That's odd, because when I was travelling AN last week, I was thinking of you.

I went to the Golden Wing lounge in Melbourne to ask if they were accepting non AN Star Golds and the answer was yes (I was the third person in BTW).

I went to the Golden Wing lounge in Sydney to ask the same thing, and the response was the same, however they would need to check your card. The only reason the lady said you might not be admitted would be if your card was expired.

So, official policy is to let in non Ansett Star Golds. Unofficial policy is to let in Star Nothings when there's only two other people in the lounge http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Cheers,

Justin
