Lang Corp in line for Ansett Bid

http://www.theage.com.au/news/nation...X9M3VTITC.html

Excerpt:

Lang Corporation, the company at the centre of the 1998 waterfront dispute, is believed to be a leading bidder for the failed Ansett airline.

The port operator is believed to have stepped forward in the past two weeks, spurred by businessmen Solomon Lew and Lindsay Fox, who have proposed a bid to buy the airline that values it at more than $1 billion.

A Lang Corp spokesman last night said the company would make no comment on "market rumor".

Lang Corp, headed by Chris Corrigan, is believed to be considering a bid linking several parties, possibly including Singapore Airlines as manager of the airline, and which may allow some Ansett creditors to swap debt for equity in a new business.

Ansett's administrators last night declined to comment on Lang Corp's involvement, saying confidentiality agreements had been signed with potential bidders.
