Coach vs Business Class
Thoughts on coach versus business class on specifically the Lincoln Service 304 train from Chicago to St Louis and back. It's only 5 hours. I've read some trains simply have some extra room, some have many nicer things with the BC upgrade.
Thanks for your thoughts!

More info on the amenities here:

This is a route where you can expect business class to be 2x1 seating in reclining seats in the cafe car. For a 5-hour trip, I'd say it's potentially worth it depending on the premium over coach class.

What is the premium on the train you are considering and what is the value to you?
To me, the single seat with added recline is all I care about and if the delta is $50 or less well worth it. But, that is me.

We are considering Amtrak for the first time. The route is about 1.5 hours from Simi Valley to Santa Barbara. The fare is $23 per person each way in coach and $34 in business. Just curious what you all would do if given the choice here.
a) Would you pay the extra $11 each way for business?
b) Would you leave at 11:11am to take the Coast Starlight instead of the more desirable time of 10:07am which is just the Surfliner?
We are only in Santa Barbara for 24 hours. Thanks!

For a trip this short I would save the money and have lunch when you get there.
Again. A trip this short wouldn’t give you time to really take advantage of the Sightseer Lounge car on the Starlight so take the most convenient time for you. Daze
