Heads Up: Amtrak Fall Excursion

From another message board:

Planned routing is Penn Station-Newark-Oak Island-Upper Bay-National Docks-Bergen Tunnels, then up the River (ex-West Shore) line to Selkirk. Then eastward over the Castleton Bridge, down the Schodack and into Penn Station via the Hudson Line, with a 6:10pm arrival estimated.

Dates of operation are October 14 and 15. Official announcement is expected "in a few weeks" and sales will start the 2nd week in September.

Interesting route. Should be able to get good water views from both sides of the train.

Views should be better from the right side of the train if the routing in the original post is correct, especially if they turn the train instead of changing ends.

Update: phoned Amtrak at 10:16 am (luckily I'm still Select Plus). Agent admitted they were having issues with the website recognizing station AXP. Managed to make a booking (the agent said they were close to selling out).

I ran into the same issue. Loaded up the app, typed in AXP and all was good. No AAA discount unfortunately but glad to have a seat on my first ride!
