NER 1-2-3 FREE Good on Acela?
 

Just noticed that my 1-2-3 FREE coupons, earned on NER, are showing as valid on both NER and Acela. Are others seeing this? Luck? Error?

Don't need to use one yet, so I haven't called to redeem.

I actually called to ask about this. I was told that no matter what the coupon says, it's only good on how you earned it. I repeated several times, "but it says Acela" and she just kept repeating back to me, "it is only good on the type of train you earned it with." If that's the case it is very poorly worded. I looked at last year's coupon and there was no mention of Acela.

I will actually be booking a trip in the next day or two and we'll see if they allow it for Acela but if the rep was correct, it won't work. It's all very strange.

It's not strange at all. This is from the T&C in the original offer email:

My passes last year were earned on NER and the coupons said "good for NER."

My passes this year were earned on NER and the coupons say "good for Acela or NER."

I consider that odd.

I just went back to check the exact language and they've been switched! They now just say NER, nothing about the Acela. So I guess that was indeed a mistake.

It was absolutely strange (and stupid). Worst coupon wording ever. Glad they corrected it.
