All the server will ask you for when you get into the diner, will be to enter your car and room number on your checks, before taking your order(s).

Thanks for responses!
Amtrak roomette first timer;
Went for SilverMeteor because of dining
but not knowing it would be included!!
At no point in points process/reservation did
I notice free meals or DC Lounge mention.

Are there any other "perks" of which I might want
to be aware, might miss if I don't know in advance?
Thanks.

Note that it is considered normal to tip your sleeping-car attendant and your dining-car server(s).

Basically, you board, and they send you right to the dining car. If you don't go; then you don't get dinner.
If the train should happen to be running very late, say more than 1 hour; then as long as you are in the Club Acela, Amtrak will give you some money to go buy dinner in the station.

Interesting, first I've heard of this practice. Can one boarding a sleeper request this at any staffed station when train runs late and misses mealtime? Or is that only at the major lounges? It's probably pax at the midroute and unstaffed stations that get hit hardest in this scenario, though I suppose one could always call to request compensation after.

I've only heard of this happening at stations with a first class lounge; that is to say that they give pax some $$ for a meal.
That said, I was in Seattle once with a late departing Builder (I"m thinking almost 2 hours late) and the station personnel did hand out bottled water and those emergency reserve food packs that Amtrak keeps on all longer distance trains. And that was for all pax; not just sleepers.

I remember travelling coach on the long gone Desert Wind from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles. We were running several hours late, and were fed KFC - probably in San Bernardino. Didn't see whether the sleeping car passengers got a better meal than us, though.

can one book a roomette without a private toilet?
Do all Roomettes on northeast trains include private toilets?
I booked the roomette in good faith and was excited to try it the dining car etc, the private sitting compartment . But the stench was beyond belief.
( commercial lysol) can one book a roomette without a private toilet?
( Trust me , I had NYC to Alexandria VA booked in one of those and called on 10 minutes notice. took 8 minutes to get a rep and
Yep Amtrak refunded 2 minutes before departure without even a snide comment. ( kinda of robotic service, disinterested rep) ( Revenue tixs).
