Providence Train Station rental car??

All,
I take the train more times than i care from Wilmington to DC. I have a trip up to Providence RI at the end of the month and would much prefer to take the train than fly. however, i need a rental car when i get to the station. The station does not appear to have a rental desk.

Does anyone have a suggestion for what the easiest way is to handle getting a rental car at the train station.

Thanks!

Rick

Both Avis and Enterprise have downtown locations less than amile a from the staion, and Enterprise will pick you up during their business hours or you can cab over to it.

I believe Hertz and Avis will reimburse taxi fares to their location.

Budget is also in downtown Providence, and they also reimbursed my cab when I rented from them a year or two ago.

I would at least check rates at one of the local HLE locations, before choosing the airport location.

Weather and luggage permitting, it is an easy and pleasant walk to Budget.

The walk to the Avis is easy in quick if you don't have much baggage, and they are more than willing to drive you back to the station if you want. It's about 2 blocks.
