Talking Routes I've taken

I live in DC and used to live in North Carolina. I'll start with the ones I take most frequently:

Northeast Regional
Crescent
Carolinian
Piedmont
Acela Express
Empire Service
Capitol Limited
Cardinal

Once I've only taken a handful of times:
Lake Shore Limited
Sunset Limited
Palmetto

Ones I've only taken once:
Pennsylvanian
Adirondack
Vermonter
Ethan Allen Express
City of New Orleans
Texas Eagle
Southwest Chief
Coast Starlight
Capitol Corridor
Silver Meteor
Silver Star

Plenty of transit & commuter trackage

Several excursion lines, including Great Smoky Mtns RR, Strasburg RR, Upper Hudson Valley Scenic, Essex CT, Potomac Eagle Scenic, and various museum trackage

Plus, some rare mileage on the American Orient Express in 2004: ABQ-Barstow-Vegas-Park City UT (on UPRR spur)-SLC-Idaho Falls, ID-SLC

Amtrak routes

Because we have artificial joints and KNOW what they'd do to us at the airport, we just used AGR points and rode from Atlanta to LA for a cruise. Going out: Crescent, Cap. Limited, Empire Builder, and Coast Starlate. Coming back, it was Texas Eagle (Unplanned since the SWChief was blizzarded out) for 3 nights, then the Cap Limted back to DC and the Crescent home. 5 nights/5 days out, 6 nights/6 days back home. Grand total of 9005 miles. It was more than wonderful and we'd do it again next week if we had the points. But that day will come since we charge everything but laundromat change on our AGR Mastercard. It's like a game to us now, plus we get POINTS. Whee!^

Never have ridden Amtrak. Rode Northern Pacific and Great Northern many decades ago. Retiring and intend to catch up a little pretty quickly.

Yep - long distance trains on points is the way to go.

When I lived in Brattleboro I'd take the Vermonter every other week. Now I live in San Diego and ride the Surfliner every other week. So:

Vermonter
Pacific Surfliner
Adirondack
Southwest Chief
Northwest Regional
Acela Express
Lake Shore Limited

I've traveled on these with Amtrak: City of New Orleans, Lincoln Service, Empire Builder, California Zephyr, Southwest Chief, Cascades, Crescent, Capitol Limited, Coast Starlight, and Texas Eagle/Sunset Limited. And hopefully many more to come!

And I've traveled on these routes, pre-Amtrak: Empire Builder (Great Northern), North Coast Limited (Northern Pacific), Abraham Lincoln (Gulf, Mobile, and Ohio), City of Hinkle (Union Pacific).

It's easier for me to say which routes I haven't ridden:

Chicago to Quincy
Orlando to Tampa

Otherwise, I've ridden every route in the system.
