Only Pacific Surfliner (Solana Beach-LA Union Station, not anywhere north) so far. I'd like to do Coast Starlight and some of the other longer distance routes some day, though.

Amtrak Bus (SEA-VAC) - Sadly a bustitution due to mudslide north of Seattle. Rode the bus that stopped at every station along the route.

If I added trains I have ridden on around the world, my list and the crazy stories about my rail adventures would be huge. You have not truly experienced rail travel until you have traveled by train in India. Indians take their national rail system very seriously :-)

We're meeting friends in Washington DC in April. They're flying up from Houston. They're NYC bound after DC. When they said they were training to NYP, we decided to fly down, and Amtrak back to NY with them. $49 per person 1 way. This is my first time WAS/NYP. A couple of years back I took Amtrak CHI/WAS/NRO, so I consider this totally new.

How I long for a Roomette long haul.

Fun tip in the future if you want to do a roomette or bedroom between WAS and NYP. If you book from ALX (Alexandria, VA) you can do it in a sleeper on a few of the long distance trains that stop there. ALX is one stop south of Union Station and is right next to the King Street Metro Station.
GoAmtrak and River in Sight like this.
