AGR: Recent experience
I took Amtrak from Baltimore to Boston on March 31st using 3000 points. My train was stopped in NY Penn Stn and was told that trains are suspended due to high water in RI due to flooding.. no further arrangements will be made..
They did put people in Acela for people traveling up to New Haven, CT. I spoke to AGR CSR and told them what happened. The nice lady apologized and gave me ticket back to Baltimore and told me I would be credited the points.. I checked last week and I noticed that the points that were credited for the original trip was used to re-book from NY to Baltimore. I called Amtrak and was told that the points were given back because of the original trip interruption.. After that I used the points for another trip.. and they cannot give me credit for it.. I even spoke to the supervisor and she repeated the same thing.. I somehow feel that is wrong.. Now, I need to take a trip tomorrow and looks like I have to shell out from my pocket as my transfer from Starwood Guest Rewards hasn't made it to my AGR accnt yet.. And my 3000 points is gone.. And I am about 1750 points short of the 3000 I need to make that trip tomorrow.. Has anyone had better luck with Amtrak? |

Resolved!
I was contacted by an Amtrak GR CSR. I told her about my experience and she agreed that since Amtrak had authorized all paying customers to get a refund on their Mar 31 fare, I shouldn't be docked my miles either. So she offered me that she can either try to work this with Amtrak to get my 3000 points or I can be offered a $250 travel voucher for future travel. I went with the voucher. Thanks AGR Insider who saw my post here and initiated this follow-up calls/messages to resolve this issue. :D

Good news!
But, what happens to anyone else in the same situation not fortunate to know to go the FlyerTalk route? Do they end up short 3,000 points as the OP would have been? |

I do hope AGR insider uses this opportunity to fix this customer service loophole in the future for everyone.
