Excellent AMEX service!
 

In the tidal wave of threads condemning Amex, this one praising it will probably get lost, but here goes:

My HHonors Amex (issued in the US although I live in Israel) is due to expire at the end of October. My current plans are to be in the States from mid October through the first several days of November.

However, there is a strong possibility that I might have to fly out on a moment's notice anytime between now and then and I don't want to find myself in the States with an expired card while my new one is waiting for me at home.

I just spoke with Amex, explained the situation, and they told me that they will send my new card immediately by DHL. This was a very big relief for me.

I am not one of Amex's large profit customers. My HHonors card is a freebie, as is my Amex Blue (which I never use). Although I am allowed a $5000 limit on my HHonors, and another $8000 on my Blue, I never spend more than $3000 in any one month (and most months I spend nothing -- I generally don't use it in Israel or in the Euro Zone).

Moreover, I have never carried a balance -- so Amex hasn't made a cent from me on interest.

I was truly impressed by this kind of service being given to a low-value customer.

Thanks for the post. It really is nice to read positive stories about Amex customer service amid all the negative ones.

I've certainly had my ups and downs with Amex over many years, some negative (and one very negative), but in the balance, they have provided the best customer service of any card I've ever carried. (Worst = Citibank!) So I've stuck with them. It's not the "Only card I carry", but its dang near close these days.
