Checking into bellagio
Hi there, I'm currently 20 with the platinum amex card, and next month I will be going to Las Vegas for business. I would like to book a room at the bellagio with my card in order to get the upgrade, however I'm sure most of the hotels on the strip have a 21 age requirement. My business partner on the other hand is 24. My question is would it be OK for me to book the reservation using my card and having my partner check in once we get to the hotel? Thanks

You can gamble and enter a legally binding contract at age 18...
So as long as you're older than that, I don't think they're going to care if you're not 21. Just don't try to drink in the casino or bars, EVERYONE cards you in vegas if you look young. |

xihua, it's true that most of the hotels (from what I've seen) require you to be 21 to check into a room. Perhaps if you give PTS a call and explain the situation they can advise you, I'm sure they'd be happy to help!

thank you all for the responses, i will call PTS and find out.

I don't think you'll have a problem. They have never asked for ID when checking in before just my amex. Long as you don't look like a little hoodlem you should probably be ok.

On a side note about Bellagio - don't expect any sort of incredible upgrade, especially if you're there over a weekend. I just got back from an FHR stay and while the amenities were nice and the program was certainly worthwhile, don't count on a suite or even a Lake View room.

Apparently, the Bellagio has a high rate of success. |
I have only passed threw Bellagio, usually I stay at the Four Seasons because I dont want to get into the whole your money is worthless until your 21. So I choose to stay at FS because they are one of the few properties on the strip that will take my money using FHR. I have stayed there so much that now it would be pointless asking me for ID, I guess unless I cash a check. I would imagine Bellagio would ask for ID, but it could be to verify your name. Normally at hotels where I think that the check-in age might be 21 or higher, I just give my passport because they really don't want to sit there counting your age. Any other type of ID would be your best bet because its not highlighted with "UNDER 21 UNTIL" I really think it depends on who checks you in and at what time because they might be really busy and not have time to check anything.

I doubt you will have any problems. I checked into the "Invited Guests" lane, and was given a great upgrade on the Spa Tower side of the property.

You can always add an additional guest to the room. That person can check in and you just have to make sure that the bill is settled to your card at the end.
Re the PTS upgrade at Bellagio, the only PTS upgrade is to a Lake View room if you don't have one already booked. In other words, it stinks as a perk for this property. For that (and a few other reasons) I will likely not be going back to the Bellagio on my next trip through town. |
PTS has an upgrade just for a lakeview room?? Hmm, I guess I'm better off with the $20 sandwich by itself haha.

Does the Mandalay Bay really card you when you check in? I just turned 20 and will be at a concert there in December and I'd rather spend the night than take a 1 AM flight back home.

I have checked into my room in a hotel on the Strip when I was 20 with my Amex. No problems whatsoever. I was aked for ID (as were all people checking in at the time) and presented a Drivers License with the red UNDER 21 banner on it. They didnt care. As far as settling the room bill your money is still green and your card is still Platinum.
However, there is no reason that your associate cannot check in on your behalf. I have had to do that on numerous occasion where I missed a flight and the rest of my party got there before me. They will present their card to cover incidentals. At any time you can swap cards on file from his to yours to allow you to sign charges to the room on your card. On another note I also had no problems drinking and gaming but I cannot advise you on doing either of those. |
