The Centurion® Lounge
Platinum and Business Platinum Card Members
U.S. Basic Platinum Card Members and Additional Platinum Card Members on the account and U.S. Basic Business Platinum Card Members and Additional Platinum Card Members on the account may bring up to two (2) guests per visit into locations of The Centurion Lounge in the U.S., at Hong Kong International Airport and at London Heathrow Airport for no per-visit guest fee (“Complimentary Guest Access”) through January 31, 2023. Effective February 1, 2023, Platinum Card Members, Business Platinum Card Members and Additional Platinum Card Members on the account will be charged a $50 fee for each guest (or $30 for children aged 2 through 17, with proof of age). To receive Complimentary Guest Access at these locations after January 31, 2023, the total eligible purchases on the Platinum Account must equal or exceed $75,000 between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022 and in each calendar year thereafter. Guest access policies may vary internationally by location and are subject to change.
Beginning February 1, 2023, eligibility for Complimentary Guest Access will be processed within a week of the Platinum Account’s meeting the purchase requirement in most cases, but may take up to 12 weeks to become effective. Complimentary Guest Access status will be reflected in the Benefits tab of your online account and in the American Express App. Once effective, Complimentary Guest Access will be available for the remainder of the calendar year in which it became effective, the following calendar year, and until January 31 of the next calendar year (for example, if Complimentary Guest Access becomes effective on May 1, 2023, it will remain effective through January 31, 2025). Eligible purchases made by any Additional Card Members on the Platinum Account will contribute to the purchase requirement. Eligible purchases to meet the purchase requirement are for goods and services minus returns and other credits. The Platinum Card Member must present his or her valid American Express Card, government-issued I.D., and same-day corresponding airline ticket to club ambassador. Additional Gold Cards and Additional Green Cards on your Platinum account are not eligible for complimentary access. Access to Delta Sky Club partner lounges is not permitted. Individuals must be at least 18 years of age to access Delta Sky Club, and 21 years of age to access locations with a self-service bar, unless accompanied by a responsible, supervising adult who has access to the lounge. Priority Pass Select
These Terms and Conditions govern Platinum Card Members' participation in and use of the Priority Pass™ Select program. Priority Pass is an independent airport lounge access program. At any visit to a Priority Pass Select lounge that admits guests, you may bring in two guests for no charge. After two guests, you will be automatically charged the guest visit fee equal to the guest visit fee of the Priority Pass Standard program for each additional guest. Some lounges do not admit guests. By enrolling in Priority Pass Select, you agree that you will be responsible for any additional accompanying guest visits and that your Card will be automatically charged after you have signed for the additional guest visit and it has been reported to Priority Pass by the participating lounge. Additionally, you acknowledge and agree that American Express will verify your Card account number and provide updated Card account information to Priority Pass. Priority Pass will use this information to fulfill on the Priority Pass Select program and may use this information for marketing related to the program. Priority Pass Select
These Terms and Conditions govern Platinum Card Members' participation in and use of the Priority Pass™ Select program. Priority Pass is an independent airport lounge access program. At any visit to a Priority Pass Select lounge that admits guests, you may bring in two guests for no charge. After two guests, you will be automatically charged the guest visit fee equal to the guest visit fee of the Priority Pass Standard program for each additional guest. Some lounges do not admit guests. By enrolling in Priority Pass Select, you agree that you will be responsible for any additional accompanying guest visits and that your Card will be automatically charged after you have signed for the additional guest visit and it has been reported to Priority Pass by the participating lounge. This is also a little puzzling to me because I am not sure who amex is trying to target with this loophole. I suspect that most people who put $75k travel spend on a Platinum may also be Centurion cardholders and therefore not subject to the new guest access policy.
The Business Platinum card accounts are going to get people who play the game to keep the "free" guest access, but there will also be some of the personal US Platinum card accounts who do so too for the same reason.
With consumers, it's rather typical that a kind of card-use behavior may not provide the maximum potential return for a consumer even as the consumer would be better off acting on the alternatives out there. Just look at all those consumers who carry card balances on high interest cards despite what else is out there in the marketplace that they could use to lower their debt carrying costs. Card issuers take advantage of this kind of consumer inertia/laziness, but they also take advantage of other aspects of consumers too. Here we have Amex making a dash toward getting a bigger wallet share of a consumer's spend by pushing for consumers to adjust card use habits and increasingly consolidate spend onto the Amex Platinum account for purposes of maintaining "complimentary" guest access for Platinum cardholders.

When you enter, head towards the elevator or stairs, and head downstairs. Find yourself a seat, then head to the back and go through a pair of doors that reads "1850," and have a drink in there before your lunch or dinner. I was just there recently and they had an excellent braised beef type dish, mashed potatoes and mushroom risotto--all I found excellent, especially for an airport lounge. Also, there's a salad bar, but I didn't have time to...er...investigate it.
I'd avoid the breakfast because, for whatever reason, the chef here, like almost all airport & buffet chefs, prepares scrambled eggs so dry that it sucks the moisture out of your mouth--I find them inedible.

Maybe some people will pick and choose where to pay the $50/guest fee based on how good/bad they think the Centurion lounge situation is -- whether it be crowding, food, or anything else -- but I am more often than not going to get my money's worth out of paying such a fee for guest use at any of the Centurion lounges on my beaten paths.

I doubt there is much chef involvement in buffet scrambled eggs. These are likely heated from frozen or refrigerated scrambled eggs in a bag. (No, these are not made from powdered eggs.) The dryness is primarily a steam table artifact.

I upgraded to the Platinum card back in November (2021). So far I've been to the PHL club four times, and also the SEA, DFW, and IAH clubs, and although some have been very busy, I have yet needed to wait in line. Maybe I'm just lucky so far.

1) a lot of tables were reserved (presumably for Centurion card holders) - more than I notice at other lounges
2) no regular seats available
3) Pretty crowded, and they were still serving breakfast items at 12:30 PM
Immediately left and went to the superior SkyClub, eating Ivar’s clam chowder and sipping Michelob Ultra right now
1) a lot of tables were reserved (presumably for Centurion card holders) - more than I notice at other lounges
2) no regular seats available
3) Pretty crowded, and they were still serving breakfast items at 12:30 PM
Immediately left and went to the superior SkyClub, eating Ivar’s clam chowder and sipping Michelob Ultra right now

godbreath There's a small blurb about Complimentary Access on the Centurion Lounge website but the complete anticipated Terms & Conditions are also posted in a dusty corner there. I couldn't find an absolutely explicit term which indicated that Platinum Authorized Users also receive complimentary guest access but I think a plain reading suggests that to be the case.
The first sentence essentially says "these three groups of cardmembers are entitled to bring in guests for a $50 fee" and, while the second sentence is silent as to the who, it certainly implies that "the same three groups of cardmembers may are then also entitled to bring in complimentary guests once the spend milestone is reached on the account".
Effective February 1, 2023, Platinum Card Members, Business Platinum Card Members and Additional Platinum Card Members on the account will be charged a $50 fee for each guest (or $30 for children aged 2 through 17, with proof of age). To receive Complimentary Guest Access at these locations after January 31, 2023, the total eligible purchases on the Platinum Account must equal or exceed $75,000 between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022 and in each calendar year thereafter.

The personal Platinum additional cardholder pricing $175/3 dates to about 2005, before then it was a fee for each additional card. Business Platinum is $300 for each additional Platinum card. Canadian Platinum is $175 for each additional Platinum card. If American Express simply wants to generate more revenue they could increase the fee to $250/3, but if they are concerned about benefit costs or lounge crowding they could revert to $175 for each additional personal Platinum card.
The current fee structure not only predates Centurion lounges, but also Priority Pass, Escape, Plaza Premium, Airspace, Global Entry, Trip Insurance, etc.
