What did you say in your chat? That you were thinking of canceling or that you wanted a retention offer?

thanks!

See post 1421. It is possible to receive retention bonuses in two consecutive calendar years, but not more than one in ~13 months.

Someone, AmEx has started to pro-rate the billed annual fees. So if you are one week into the new card year, you do not get all the AFs refunded. I think this is new this year?

Not for much longer you don't. Citi Premier is discontinuing 3 x on travel within the next few months (for people who had the card from before the change was announced). It's going to be 3x only on hotels, air travel, and gas now, not on any other travel.

Citi Premier used to tout "the widest definition of travel", and now (without claiming it) Amex Green has a much wider scope of what counts as travel than Citi Premier.

Amex Platinum Personal (originally MB). Chatted with Amex, she kept going over different benefits. Eventually offered 20K points. I didn't ask for alternatives. I assume what she offered was the best points offer available?

Of note, my card renewed in August, but I didn't get the $200 amex travel credit.

I got 50k points (choice of this or $500 statement credit) in 2019, then I got offered $200 AMEX Travel credit last year. I thought the $200 travel credit was a default benefit for this year but they said it was not.

It is definitely not. I did not get it for my renewal in August last year.
