you are saying it’s better to convert 55,000 points to cover the af then spend $550?
I think so too. But I’d appreciate if they extended something.

No, I think they are saying that 55,000 points is a better offer than a $550 credit to offset the fee.

told them I couldn’t use the travel benefits and wasn’t really interested in the others though I do use them.
will try again.
My read is that they offered to use 55k MR points from the poster to offset/pay for the annual fee. It was not a retention offer where they offer points or money to keep it open.
mia likes this.

thats correct. I could utilize 55,000 points to cover the cost of my annual fee. I haven’t decided what to do.

just wait for the end of the 30 days after your AF posted (aka cancel inside and you get the AF back) and ask again

AmEx Business Platinum Card

Received an offer of $300 statement credit with no spend. The CSR mentioned several times my 22 year history with AmEx. I mentioned that I like the card but with the increased AF and not being able to use the card's benefits because of no travel during Covid, would appreciate a retention offer to help justify keeping the card open. The disclosure she read did include keeping the card open for 12 months.

FYI: Called the retention number listed in the wiki (twice) and its no longer in service (for my gold card). That number has been in my contacts for years! They just said to call the number on the back of the card.

Bonvoy American Express Business Card -$95 renewal fee due
I was offered a $50 statement credit now and if I spend $2,000 in the next 90 days will get another $100 statement credit. I accepted the offer.

3 so far. Ameriprise plat, delta reserve, everyday preferred. This has all been on the phone though, no chat. Maybe I should have tried on chat, but I figured it was the same department.

I just got 10k MR with no spend for my gold card. I really don't use the card that much to ask for more. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I forgot to ask, but if I accept a retention offer, but upgrade the card, will I be violating any terms or get in trouble with AMEX? I know I'm not supposed to downgrade or cancel the card within 12 months of accepting the retention offer.

Quick question: Amex platinum (regular personal card)
My annual fee was posted on 4/19
It's due on 5/14

I tried to chat into amex using the directions in this thread (through the webpage)
However, they told me that I had a retention points (30k) last year on 4/30th and I don't have any retention offers available on my account so far.

Someone said on this thread that I'll be eligible on the 13th month? I thought that would have started in May for me. Does that mean it won't start until 5/30th for me? If so, am I screwed because my 30 days after my AF will be 5/18?

Thanks!!
