Is AmEx outsourcing their chargeback processing now, including the people who handle the reconsideration requests? Also, do different groups handle different types of AmEx cards? I'd hope that Platinum charge card customers would get better treatment than what has been described in some of the posts above.

I think the decision to treat vouchers as refunds is a policy decision, not something decided by front line personnel. American Express appears to be following the lead of some governments which allow vouchers in lieu of refunds because the airlines literally do not have enough cash to give everyone a refund. This is a global problem. Nothing at all unique to American Express.

I was a platinum holder and got no better treatment.
