Amex Platinum Uber $200 credit, German cards?

Does the German Amex Platinum get the $200 uber credit? I don't see any reference to it on the amex.de site. No uber in Germany, but useful when travelling. I thought this applied for all amex platinum cardholders.

Why would you think that?

why would there be any benefit unless specifically listed? I'm very confused

American Express issues cards in scores of countries. Each market has it's own pricing, benefits and rewards. The Uber benefit is only offered to USA-issued personal Platinum charge cards. USA-issued Business and Corporate cards are excluded. Cards issued in other markets are excluded.

I see that there is a 'Sixt' car service 200 Euro benefit, and applies worldwide. Can be used for taxis, looks like.

This would be a more helpful answer.

Uber is not permitted in most parts of Germany, at least it does not function the way it does in the US, so there would be little point in giving a credit.

Who would pay for it? The USA benefit is a marketing agreement between Uber and American Express. Uber will not want to pay for us to use other services.

Are you asking if the German card receives -both- the Uber and the SIXT benefit?

vanabb Mar 23, 2020 3:26 am

No i was only wondering if the Uber benefit applied. I never looked into the Sixt service before as outside of Europe, it seemed troublesome. But it is there.

It seems to be for airport transfer or Limousine services from Sixt? I've never used it so have no idea how that works.

Yes, works quite well actually. It's similar to Blacklane.

No, no uber credit with a german amex but the advertised Sixt credit for up to 200 euros each year. Fine print: you get 10 x 20 euros credit for qualifying rides, not 200 at once. As others noted we don't have uber service working here like you have in the USA so they had to offer something similiar.
