Has anyone used the Avis 250/75 offer? If I rent a car for $500+, would I get $75 or $150? Thanks.

I had that on all cards (incl. Delta and Everyday) except for my Plat (that has the $100 offer).

Why would you expect to receive $150 back ? Does it say "this offer can be used 2x" or something like that ? If its just a single use offer, then regardless of how much you spend over 250, you are going to get a single 75 credit.

I have, but only once and under $500, sorry. If you want to be safe, dunno if this would work but you could ask them to charge a $250 deposit when you pick up the car maybe?

Because it is a "up to 2x" offer, yes. This one appeared at the same time as the Best Buy/Home Depot "$50 off $50 up to 2x" offers, and the latter two worked even in a single $100+ transaction. I forget if the exact T&C were the same, however.

I will follow Zorak's suggestion if I decide to go with Avis.
Thanks.

Yes, I had a prepaid transit van res for Sept. that was over $700. The $75 credit came a few days later. I didn't expect or receive a $150 credit because the offer clearly states that it's $75 per rental, and good for up to two rentals.

It's anomalous and a bit of a shame that the Home Depot and Best Buy $50 offers are mixed in with the 100 or so other offers, most of which are discounts that would be of interest to relatively few cardholders. The Home Depot and Best Buy $50 offers are essentially the same (from the cardholder's perspective) as the Saks, Uber and Dell benefits. It's free money! Spend $50 and your net cost is $0.

I think not. Offers is an advertising program. The costs are borne by the merchants, not by American Express. Neither the merchants nor American Express have any interest in a low redemption rate. American Express makes money by cultivating customer engagement, not through breakage.
