Titanium would appear to refer to the recently discontinued previous generation Centurion card which did not have the Contactless feature.

Why does a unique listing, which exactly matches the physical characteristics of a discontinued product, suggest a new product rather than a residual ability to produce that discontinued design?

because everywhere else there's a Centurion they just call it that. Doesn't make sense to label something a brand new name when they can just call it old Centurion or whatever. \_(ツ)_/

American Express launching Titanium and Black Charge Cards?

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/ameri...enturion-card/

Very interest development here. If the perks and benefits are right, I'm ready to give AMEX my money!

My theory is that this is for INTERNATIONAL AmEx issuers. That's why all the platinum versions pictured are the international ones (that don't say "Platinum").

"Titanium Card" could refer to the German Centurion - which is still made of titanium and has a different design than any other centurion globally. I know they are produced in the US for the german market.

This could also show that international issuers are now able to order the new Centurion design and do a re-launch if they want.

But this is just my theory.

That's an interesting theory. My (German) Centurion does not have contactless and is indeed fully metal.

The new card for the U.S. has caused problems for some people. AMEX will issue the old card back upon request. That is probably what the "Titanium" refers to.

The new card is the contactless version? I asked a non-contactless version, but I ended up receiving a non-contactless version that was lighter than the initial version. I am fine though, it's not like the weight matters that much.

Looks like Doctor of Credit and OMAAT are bored of Coronavirus and are now reporting our speculation thread on their blogs.

I hope a more premium Amex card would offer enhanced earnings as well as enhanced perks. It is annoying to have to carry both an Amex Platinum and Amex Gold

I agree. They should have a card that helps consolidate rather than expand our card lineup. I also wish they would make it easier to use whatever credit they put on the card.

I agree. I think people with both would pay at least the combined fee or more to reduce wallet crowding. But since subscriber numbers are used in earnings calls and by Wall Street to try and gauge company health, I fear they aren't necessarily as likely to combine to cards. Every new sign up, even if more net proceeds, looks like two losses at the same time. I don't defend the position but do recognize it.

I'd also think an all in one card would do good for usage. Does Amex get more interchange when I use my Plat? I use my Everyday for 1.2pts (2.4 grocery) instead of my Plat unless it's a flight.

I only put flights on my AMEX Plat.
