Didn't Cancel Amex Plat Business Within 30 Days of Renewal - Can I Downgrade?

I missed the 30-day cutoff to cancel my Business Platinum after renewal.

I've read somewhere that it might be possible to downgrade to a cheaper card and get a pro rata refund of the AF. Is this true, and how would I do it?

Preserving Membership Miles is not an issue, I also have a Schwab Amex Plat personal card (which was meant to replace the business card, but I didn't cancel on time), so I'm looking to downgrade to the cheapest possible card.

Cheapest card you will be able to downgrade to will be business Green.
Make sure sure that everything is clear on the phone with the customer service rep. when you make the request.
CARD Act protections do not apply to small business cards.

I had Business Gold and Personal Platinum.

I upgraded my Business Gold to Business Platinum and downgraded my Personal Platinum because that new combination made more sense for me,
I got a pro-rated refund.

You are downgrading but the card is a small business card.
I would expect it to work the same way it did for me, but since yours is a small business card I would confirm with the customer service agent.
I would suggest saying that it is not because you do not like the Business Platinum card but that you have the benefits you care about covered with another Amex Platinum.
