Qantas (QF) added as Membership Rewards transfer partner [USA]

Qantas was added a transfer partner. While they have a distance based chart it seems there may be some mid-haul sweet spots. I lined my account. Now I'll need to learn this program

Where I’ve found the greatest use for Qantas points is redeeming for medium-distance travel on Emirates. Qantas and Emirates are partners. Qantas awards are distance based. You can fly Emirates from New York JFK to Milan for 60,000 Qantas miles (plus taxes and fees) each way in business class.

The transfer ratio is 500:500, which can reduce spoilage if transferring just enough for a trip.

Note that Citi ThankYou Rewards also transfers to Qantas.

ditto here - keep getting an error every time I try link my membership rewards to my qantas frequent flyer account it fails. I tried for three days now, and gave up and created a new Qantas FF# and that worked without a hitch. Now I just need to merge the two... (anecdotally my old FF# was 7-digits long, the new one 10-digits - all other info is identical from one profile to another)

Could the linking errors be due to names not matching between accounts?

QF can have savage carrier surcharges. Buyer beware.
The QF points (~ff miles) can be high
---->link Old but still about right

It seems there are some sweet spots (Emirates on some routes). Otherwise nothing to write home about.

Qantas Link Error

For everyone that is getting errors when trying to link your Qantas number with your Membership Rewards account, I was getting this error online and via the phone. I have one of the old 7 digit account numbers, but apparently the new ones are 10 digits. I went ahead and added three zeros in front of my account number and voila it linked. Will see if it holds, but I think this will solve the issue.

If anyone has better info, please update.
