Clawback or not?
So I used my Biz Plat to buy a speaker at Dell for the $100 promo credit. Ended up returning the speaker, not quite what I wanted. I figured I might get the credit, but once returned Amex would claw it back and then I'd just buy something else. Well, it's been a month since I returned, I got the credit (plus the other 10% offer) from Amex, and also got the return credit from Dell. So I'm $110 to the positive. I"m not sure whether to just sit this out and figure I came out ahead, buy something else, wait some more or god forbid, check with Amex. I do want to use the second half $100 credit later this year - If I do nothing maybe they claw it back then? So should I buy something now?

I would personally wait. The upside in your situation will vary from learning important info about the benefit to keeping your $110. There's no downside, and you can make a replacement purchase anytime before the end of May. Your benefit for the 2nd half of the year should remain unaffected regardless.

I burned my first half-year credit on an Echo Dot and a carrying sleeve for my laptop. 2nd half will go for Office 365. I noticed they have lightning cables, which I am always going through (I lose them, they wear out, or break). They are 250% the price of where I buy them elsewhere (monoprice.com) but at least it's a way to capture some value in the future. Or a 128Gb flash drive, or a portable 2Tb disk.

Using the Dell credit is so painful. I tried to buy a lens, ordered 2 weeks ago, and nothing is happening. But if you go online it is shipping in 1-3 days. And supposedly if I order now I'll get it in 1 day if I order expedited, but my order placed beginning of the month isn't being shipped anytime soon.
Really?
Why does Amex partner with the worst companies?
