Amex Hotel Offers: can they always be spread across multiple stays?

Here’s excerpted language from a current offer for Hilton brand hotels: “Pay for your stay of $300+ in one or more transactions by 12/31/18”. And for a current Doubletree offer: “Use your enrolled Card to spend $225+, when you pay for your stay with Doubletree by 1/31/19.”

The Doubletree offer, and others, does not include the “one or more transactions” language. Is there any chance the Doubletree $225 might have to be spent in a single stay?

Thx....
