AMEX (USA) FHR Hotels not bookable online?

The AMEX FHR site is now asking me to call in on essentially all hotels when I try to check dates and book online through my account. Is this a kink in the system or did something change recently?

They are updating FHR bookings to qualify for 5x points. Some properties are bookable while others aren't yet.

5x points and FHR?

Same issue here. 95% of hotels are not bookable online. I don't mind calling in to book as long as I can at least see the different prices online.

It's taking them forever to update. This is really annoying.

Very annoying indeed. I hate having to call and book them over the phone. It's very hard to comparing hotels/rooms/prices over the phone.

I talked to an Amex rep last night about this. Any hotel that is not participating in allowing Amex points and/or 5X for booking is not going to show up online. There is no timetable for when they'll show up, they're basically just in the process of negotiating with each hotel. It's such a pain to have to call and book. It took 10-12 minutes for what would have taken 2 minutes online.

That's so unfortunate. Can we use Chat to book?

Very inconvenient to call only to find out that a property is not available on a certain date.

Go to Chase so easy

Go to Chase so easy to book with Ultimate Reward Points online. Amex needs to lose bookings to Chase to wake up.

I browsed the Visa Luxury collection, or whatever it is called. AMEX seems to have more properties. However, the perks are generally the same.

The major difference is that AmEx offers 3rd or 4th night free. Chase doesn't have that

they haven't been loading too many of these for 2019 yet either. I have been looking for several ones in 1Q and not seeing much.

Offer the same 3rd/4th night free rates as FHR, and I'll be interested.
