Australia: AMEX Platinum yearly fee increasing

Australia: AMEX Platinum yearly fee increasing
I have an Australian issued AMEX Platinum in my third year. I have received mail that the yearly fee will increase from $1200 to $1450. That is an increase of around 18 percent.
I have been happy to date with the value. Does anyone else think this rise is excessive?
EDIT: Is the USA issued card increasing as well?
