Not for nothing, I spend about 30k a month on all my cards with AMEX (real charges, some business, some personal on each perspective card), and I've not received an appreciation gift in years. Think they are still pissed that I didn't take AMEX up on their offer for Centurion back in 2007? May have to consider showing some love to Chase and Citi instead of AMEX. JPM sends me gifts. They love my spending.

No, I think the "gifts" are marketing gambits that the merchants pay American Express to distribute based on demographic and card use criteria.

I received a mailing from Amex that was "with appreciation from American Express" and contained a $100 gift card to Frontgate with apparently no strings attached. Has anyone else received anything like this?

This year so far we've gotten a gift card for Ruth's Chris for just under $200, some liquor / wine / champagne (not sure what it was my wife gave it away before I checked it out) and a free night at a 5 star hotel (value maybe $300 though required a two night stay). This is for Taiwan Centurion Card. Usually get something about every two months.

Yes, trying to decide what I will buy right now. New house so need stuff. Expensive but high quality. However, this weekend, everything on their site is 25% off so not sure it will work. (says "full-price" but why not try)

p.s. it DID work.

Does anyone know if these gifts are considered third party mailings? Like the ones I've selected under my account communication preferences as "do not send".

I hate a mailbox full of junk and credit card offers, but I would love to receive some gifts

My wife got a 100 USD gift card for Union Square hospitality group (the modern, union Square café etc in Nyc) in The mail today.
Last year she spend Aprox 40k, this year she’s been spending more with other cards. Not sure how this works, but highly appreciated.

I think it seems to be some Plat and mostly centurion card holders. I am platinum and have never received a gift.
