Looking for other datapoints...
I have the new SPG Luxe card that provides $300 credit on Marriott purchases. The verbiage is a little vague (which may be intentional...) but I read here that it can be applied to essentially all charges from Marriott.
Last week, I received an AMEX offer on their website - $40 credit for spending $200 at Courtyard. This is a 20% rebate! Since I won't be able to stay at a hotel before the expiration of this offer, I went to a local Courtyard hotel and brought a giftcard. Literally as I walk out of the hotel, I received an email from AMEX that I triggered the offer. The next day, I received the $40 credit in my account. That was great. However, I did not see any credit in my account for the annual $300 rebate credit... Reading the terms, it say 8-12 weeks. I'm wondering if this is realistic? or I need to actually go spend more money at a Marriott in my future hotel spending with this credit card...
I read up the thread and found a data point - it took the other person 2 days for the credit to show up after charge. For me, it is now day 3. My charge is labeled as "Courtyard Detroit MI". I may need to contact AMEX next week if I don't see the credit show up...
Edit: My credit posted today, but dated yesterday. So all in all, ~4-5 days from the transaction.

Can a person get both of the Amex SPG cards? I have the luxury card, but would pick up the regular one too for the bonus if thats allowed. I didnt see a statement anywhere that its not allowed, but thought I might be missing something. Thanks!

You may have both. You will get bonus as long as it is your first time getting the standard SPG card.

The more important question is whether there'll still be a downgrade path from the Luxury/Brilliant card or if one will need to cancel.
That said, the Brilliant card doesn't look all that bad to be honest.

I think it's supposed to be some kind of special designer collaboration too ...
For anyone who recently acquired an MR (Bonvoy?) card, there's no point in applying for this one right? Assuming the 24-month Marriott bonus language is on all cards now (across both Chase and Amex).

I think there is a lot of points in getting this card now. We won't qualify for any Marriott offer on the Chase side (for two years?). But Chase MR card is there. Not going away like this SPG card is. The SPG welcome bonus will be gone.

I just got my bonus 100,000 points for my SPG lux and got my $300 credit already. Wondering if I should cancel now, or risk not being able to apply for the new Marriott card in the (near) future?

I do not see the point to cancel the SPG Lux card. First you run the wrath of AmEx for gaming the welcome bonus. Second, Chase and AmEx have reciprocal rules on the welcome bonus. Canceling won't impact anything on the Chase side.

Family member just applied and got approved. Standard 75,000 MR welcome offer, plus referral reward. I'm not sure if the 100,000 MR was ever offered on this card after the MR/SPG merge back in Aug-2018.

I just applied the current SPG card (regular, hoping to keep this card until it expires) and got instant approved. However I don't see email confirmation, does it take a while for AmEx to process the application and give you confirmation by email?
