In the past week a £250 voucher for Farfetch. Not much use for me but I passed it on.

Also an invitie to a private Alan Ducasse dinner in Versaille comped but I missed the boat as my RM was out. Not ideal as would have been nice to see what they deliver.

The Medallion exclusive things come in white envelopes as opposed to standard mailouts in Black. Received the invite in the post today, but by the time I called Concierge since I hadn't heard back from my RM apparently even the waitlist was closed.

Hi everyone.
This this is completely crazy, I had this communication last week and to be honest I don't care.
See they're pushing that sort of ego button that it's inside us and they expect a reaction, that most likely will see several Cent member to go for it.
To me this whole thing is just a matter of what do I get for what do I give.

The RM, in my opinion is quite useful, somebody "always" available to make something for you has a cost and this is much cheaper than a potential assistant.
It's true, things need to be verified each time, sometime you find a better fare, a better offer and so on plus they are not creative, it seems to me they don't have a system that can store other customer's experience or feedback on a specific resort or restaurant or a specific experience, so you better be in charge of that and just tell them what you want.

I rarely attend to the events, I found these a but boring and I don't see the point, I always smell this thing that where there are money there's a potential "schmuck" ready to spend, well that's not me.

In the end I just think Cent is still a good tool to be used as long as your life/work allows you to travel a lot, here I still believe it makes sense.

Safe travels

If anyone cares for an update, basically nothing since the launch. Its simply a tier to recognise loyalty (ie spend) and the three things as suggested before are the exclusive special events (which aren't guaranteed), more WOW type gifts and potentially pre-access to events as we get the preview magazine earlier in the post.

They actually did a second Versaille event but I was too late for that too so can't report on what its like (none of my friends went). I haven't noticed anything different in terms of CTS or other benefits, nor any better access to e.g. event tickets at O2.

Apparently it is evolving so fingers crossed for something vaguely interesting.

Thanks for the update YC. If the spg Amex goes down the pan, I would consider aiming for medallion. I have a pretty extensive house refurb due to happen from late autumn, so I could possibly achieve it by next April. Hence, updates appreciated.

it doesnt seem that complicated to reward highest spenders with whatever spender wants, yet many companies do not really do that, with biggest exception being casinos

Autumn pack delivered, nicely packaged and wax sealed. Included the usual Cent Preview (presumably a week before others get it with the WOW offer for Wynn Vegas) and Great Artist Series.

Also Medallion Preview which includes complementary but limited-availability events, but which you sign up for and hope for the best (like the Versaille one previously). Private dinners at El Cellar de can Roca, Osteria Francescana, Huntsman and Dom Perignon. Also some private e.g. art viewings in London and they are hosting Medallion "social gatherings" in London sporadically - basically comp drinks at some private club.

Cent apply

Hi All

i havenít even been offered Cent in the UK, even though I have spent £1.3m in the past 12 months on my platinum, and I am averaging £145k per month at the moment.

Ok this is my personal platinum card, with company expenses, but surely Amex would want a Cent customer spending this amount.

Well you already spend that amount on Amex so they're happy on that front either way. Your spend is certainly up there, so I presume its what you spend on and where, that they care about. To be spending that amount on personal card you must have gone through some extensive credit checks as even with Cent once you go over £100k a month they ask you to pay down or provide all kinds of net worth and cashflow evidence to be specially approved. Its a big credit line.....

It seems that now from what I hear in the UK there are the two levels of Cent, normal/legacy where you have card and benefits, and Medallion where you get the extra events and a personal account manager etc. I hear its only around 5-10% of Cent holders are Medallion which then suggests there are around 500 Medallion members in the UK, though could well be much less as even that seems high relative to the size of events they hold.

The events thus far have been very nice and enjoyable and a good crowd of people and you can give direct feedback to Amex reps etc. Interested to see how it develops over coming years....

How much is the fee now in the UK? And how many supplementary cent cards can you have and at what additional fee?

what about much higher personal leisure spend? no differentiation?

businesses with ultra high spend could be offered business oriented things

many underestimate expenses and overestimate financial responsibility

re limits, if credit check shows prior (to amex) payments of bills..

Its checked March every year. So if your March 18 - March 19 spend is above the threshold you will get a white Medallion wax-sealed envelope in March saying you have qualified and welcome. Then you will start to get the Medallion mail outs and the semi-annual special events both via post and email from your Relationship Manager (and if you don't have one you will be assigned one). There is no guarantee that £250k is the threshold for next year but that is what it is today.

Medallion is only for the UK personal GBP card (i.e. not ICC or other markets). I am not aware of the Medallion program being implemented anywhere else worldwide and as far as I am aware there is nothing "above" Medallion in the UK. There is no Business or Corporate Cent in the UK either (as far as I am aware) - these are US (or other country) specific cards. Business expenditure is naturally significantly higher than personal spend on the whole, so there are very different thresholds for the business/corporate cards as would be expected. Unfortunately this does bring a lot of confusion in the Centurion related forums.

What you spend on personally and achieving annual expenditure is what gets you invited to Cent in the UK. No idea what threshold is today, but c. £125k annual personal spend on day to day, luxury items and travel, holding Plat card for a few years, no payment issues, passing credit checks and using associated services, e.g. travel and concierge - these are general requirements. Once you are in, then its "simply" hitting £250k/year to become a Medallion member, reviewed on an annual basis. So you can drop down - while you won't lose the Cent, you won't get the extra Medallion benefits. UK Cent used to have tiers of Cent, Cent + Relationship Manager, Medallion. I *think* (but cannot confirm) that this is being phased out into Cent and Medallion Cent (incl. Relationship Manager).

For those interested, events that Medallion have arranged (complementary) include PJ to south of France for dinner at Hotel de Cap, private event and night at Soho Farmhouse, dinners at Noma, 11 Madison, Atherton, Palace of Versaille, Cellar de Can Roca, Osteria Francescana etc., private Ducassse dinner cruise in Paris, Orient Express train journey (London-Venice), private Krug tasting, private Dom Perignon tasting, hospitality at Wembley football matches.

Whether you get to attend or not is entirely a lottery (pick from a hat).

£2200 per year including one plastic spare card (additional card) and one supplementary Ti card. The others can be Green/Gold/Plat I think but I can't quite recall. You can have a few of those for the whole family. The supplementary Ti card gets most benefits for that user. Any additional come with full charge I think, or at least quite high like e.g. £1,700. Would need to check.
