I've been to the SFO lounge dozens of times and I can scarcely remember and occasion in which I noticed more than one kid. Given the above experiences I guess this might be due to my travel patterns but it's been pretty consistent for me since this lounge opened.
Kids or not, there are very frequent occasions where the lounge is absolutely packed (nowhere to sit, food running out, etc). I'm in favor of this change in theory but I'm not sure it'll help overcrowding much during the times I seem to travel.

The lounge is a nice oasis of calm in the airport for my family. We have a 2 year old and a 5 year old and they are generally better behaved than even some of the adults in the lounge. Space continues to be tight in the clubs we visit and I often find that a non Centurion has taken over the reserved table. We generally get a dirty look when a rep asks them to vacate their seat for my family.

I think that the new rule is just a stepping stone to only allowing the primary member and no guests.

I think that's been everyone's take here about SFO. The only reports of many families with multiple kids I recall are with regard to the MIA lounge. Ironically, the most I've seen at SFO was a mere four families a few weeks ago, and that was after the policy change.

Access to Centurion lounge for Plat + AU + 3
I have a platinum card and my wife is a full, paid authorized user (metal platinum card, benefits, etc). If we visit the Centurion lounge together, can we bring three guests? Two on my card and one on hers?

Yes. I have done exactly this at LGA and the agent looked concerned that she was going to have to tell me that I have to pay for the extra guest until I mentioned that we had 2 cardholders (account holder and AU) and we were allowed the 2 members and 5 guests without charge.

And yes, SFO lounge is still crazy packed, and most are NOT kids. I'm not sure this family limitation helped with the overcrowding. I don't think increasing the annual fee to $550 did either.

I don't think so. A few weeks ago at IAH I observed a family, 2 adults and 2 kids, checking into the lounge next to me. Both kids were in a double stroller and they were told it would be $50 for the 4th person. I should say trying to check in because they chose to leave rather than pay the $50.
