Also check Delta.com: Sometimes better offers might be available there.

The Amex referral page has a 60K offer for the Delta Personal card.

The following offers for up to 70K on personal and business:

There are several 60, 000 miles offers for the personal card with the first year annual fee waived the first year, valid through May 1, 2019. They are listed in this referral thread. These are way better than the current standard public offer of 30,000 miles shown on Delta's website

Gold Personal:

A post on Reddit suggests that you can find a 50K offer, but with a $100 credit, by doing a dummy booking on Delta.com.
The offer should appear before you have to pay for the flight. [Did [b]not work when I booked a flt today, 3/15/17.]

Note: Review the recent discussion in the thread about various other ways to try to locate offers as high as 50k+$50 credit.

Getting the statement credit:
MrMoonlight successfully purchased a Delta ecert (essentially a gift card) and received the statement credit. See this post..
Jacobsta811 also received $50 credit for $50 e-cert on both gold business and gold personal cards.
muji received $100 credit for $50 eCert on Delta Platinum card
sdsearch received $100 credit for $50 eCert on business Platinum card (see this post).
vah4883 received $100 credit for $5.6 tax on Platinum card
philemer received $100 credit for buying a box lunch on board

No idea...I wasn't responding to responding to the question but to the original post. I'm sure anyone can make a dummy booking and check.

edit: started to make a dummy booking and the offer comes up after selecting the flights...from the T&C's:
"Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have or have had this product."

I currently have 6 Amex cards; 4 of them are credit cards, and 2 are charge cards. I'm confident they'll let me have 5 credit cards since I had 5 up until recently (I closed one last week). Of the four credit cards I have, two are Delta cards (Gold Delta Skymiles personal, Platinum Delta Skymiles Business).

I'm interested in signing up for the Platinum Delta Skymiles personal card (and I'd like to do that today since the current offer is pretty good and it expires tomorrow).

When I go to the link to open this card, rather than getting the "Apply for this card" link, I get a link labeled "Request an Upgrade". I get this whether I'm logged in to Amex or not (although I have not cleaned cookies or tried incognito). Obviously, the website recognizes me and is offering to "Upgrade" my Gold Delta card rather than offering me to apply for the card. And, of course, I do not want to "upgrade" an existing card (since I would not receive the new card sign-up bonus), I want to open a new card.

I can certainly get the correct application page to load (using the link from the wiki) if I switch to a different browser (one that doesn't have any cookies pointing back to my existing account), and then fill out all the info manually. However, I'd prefer to avoid any issues that might arise by going that way - IME applications usually go smoother when you are in a logged in state - eg they "know" you, often they don't do a hard pull, instant approval is easier, etc. My last Amex card application was about 5 weeks ago (no other Amex card apps for a year before that) and that went smoothly.

Any suggestions for the best way to get past this?

There likely isn't one. If you're logged in, Amex will offer you the upgrade.

Fair enough (in fact, I get the "upgrade" offer even if I'm not logged in - it's seeing the cookie from my previous sessions).

But if I do it via a clean browser session (I can get the Application link to load that way), should I anticipate any issues (other than having to enter all my info)?

Well I went ahead and did the app using a different/clean browser. No instant decision - got the "we'll get back to you within 14 days" message.

Got email about 24 hours later informing me I was approved. ^

Can anyone who has got one of these (Delta Platinum cards) recently give me an idea on how long it typically takes from approval to card receipt? Thanks.

The business card took 6 days (4 business days).

I have received a couple emails targeting me for the 60k signup bonus for $1000 spend and the fee waiver for the 1st year. However, I've already had the same card (Delta Gold) and received a bonus from it a couple years ago. I read through the terms and conditions, but it does not state anything about already receiving the bonus for the same card. Has Amex changed their one bonus per lifetime rule? Are there any data points on someone receiving this targeted bonus and sucessfully getting the miles?

Yes since the end of last year Amex has sent out such offers without lifetime conditions and people have got the miles including my wife.

If there's nothing about having the card before in the terms, you should get the bonus, but it might not be automatic. Some people have had no problems and other people have had to file complaints.

Called to cancel my Gold Delta card last night and was given an offer to upgrade to the plat for the same Gold annual fee ( $95 vs $195 ) and 5k points after $1k spend.

Obviously not the most exciting offer, but i accepted it figuring that it was better than nothing since I was going to cancel anyways and i can get more than $95 value out of the companion cert.

It was an upgrade over the phone, so now fine print. The guy did recite the regular speech, but i don't think i heard anything in there about future sign up bonuses. I'm wondering if this might compromise my ability to receive a sign up bonus from the plat card in the future? I could cancel the upgrade and card within 45 days.

A literal reading of the standard terms would disqualify you from earning a new account bonus for Skymiles Platinum because you have "had" the product. However, American Express' system doesn't seem to track upgrades very well. We do not have much evidence either way, but we do have a few anecdotal reports of people upgrading, cancelling (or downgrading), and successfully applying to earn the bonus.

If the account already shows Platinum online I think there is no benefit to canceling now.

I am at my 5 card Amex limit and recently cancelled my platinum card to free up capacity. In a moment of brain freeze I applied for the Amex delta without checking for the lifetime language, I have had the card before.

Now I am approved and the card is here. What are my options:

1. Ask the representative if I qualify for the bonus?
2. Not activating the card? Will it violate the 12 month rule?
3. Spend and hope the bonus shows up?

Activating the card doesn't change anything, the account is open. Is the annual fee waived for the first year? Is there any statement credit offer, or only Skymiles?
