Not activating can only hurt you. It may make Amex think you never got the card, and treat the card as lost/stolen, etc. If you don't want the card, activate it and then cancel it. Then at least you'll know what the status of the card is. If you don't activate it, you lose control of the card status.
Btw, when did you last have this card? "Lifetime" actually means about 7 years to Amex, but I believe they've been issuing this card for much longer than that.
And finally, I'm not sure if the statement credit is considered part of the welcome bonus (that may be denied) or not. You should look into that too, in case it's possible to get the statement credit even if you can't get the miles.

You can file a complaint with the CFPB. See also this thread which discusses a problem which may also affect Delta cards:

We received and approved your application for your account on April 15, 2017. The promotional offer associated with your application included the opportunity to earn a 60,000 bonus miles after spending $1,000.00 or more in eligible purchases in the first three months of Card Membership, and a $50.00 statement credit after a single qualifying Delta purchase made on the

Yes, thank you. Good call. I'll activate and actually I'm planning a ATL to Daytona trip early next year so will use the free baggage allowance for me and my two fam members. I just don't use them that much but probably once a year so it may be worth just keeping. It hasn't been very long since I closed my Gold (and Platinum) account with them though. Someday it may pick back up with them but not any time soon..
Just apply for Amex business cards giving your name as the business name, your address as the business address, your phone as the business phone, 0 years in business, $0 business income, no employees other than yourself, and sole proprietorship, and you should do fine, even if you don't have a business in any sense at all.

Wife got a targeted 70K offer for the Platinum. Pretty certain she has opened one before and so looked through the terms to see if it available for those who have had the card before. Looked twice and could not find any mention. Does Amex give targeted DL offers to those who have had the card before?

I got an email from Delta for the 50K($2K/90 days)+10K($1K 6 months) Gold card, first year fee waived. I had the Gold card before, probably 3+ years ago. It took me a while to find the terms (not obvious tab on the application page, found under Other Terms) but I could not find the usual life time restriction either after reading it three times. This is the ONLY place I found the Terms.
2 years ago I got a targeted PRG also without the restriction, got the bonus.

I see the 70K Platinum offers are back again. Am I correct in understanding that these are the best public offers we've ever seen on this card? I got a 70K RDM/15K MQM targeted offer on the personal Platinum a few years ago, but haven't seen any more targeted offers since then. I'm considering going for the business platinum as I am shaping up to be almost exactly 10K MQMs short of my next Medallion level as of the end of the year.

Note that the DL email I got, the Apply Now button would take you to a landing page where you input your DL number and last name - then the offer pops up. It is difficult to find the Offer Terms tab but it is there on the application page which is NOT prefilled.
A friend received his DL email but his offer had the restriction sentence as the first sentence under the Offer Terms.
OFFER TERMS
Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have or have had this product.
My offer is absent this sentence under Offer Terms.

I have received a targeted snail mail offer for the personal Gold card for 50k/2k/10k/1k and I could not see any "Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have or have had this product" language. If there was any, did always go before "If we in our sole discretion determine that you have engaged..."?

I have looked again and the "welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have or have had this product" is not there in both the snail mail and the online application. I will apply on Monday and update this thread with the results if/when the bonus posts. I will also try not to MS the minimum spend.
