Also check Delta.com: Sometimes better offers might be available there.

The Amex referral page has a 60K offer for the Delta Personal card.

The following offers for up to 70K on personal and business:

There are several 60, 000 miles offers for the personal card with the first year annual fee waived the first year, valid through May 1, 2019. They are listed in this referral thread. These are way better than the current standard public offer of 30,000 miles shown on Delta's website

Delta Amex Gold personal card: 50k+10k miles + $50 statement credit, $2,000 spend, $95 annual fee waived the first year

A post on Reddit suggests that you can find a 50K offer, but with a $100 credit, by doing a dummy booking on Delta.com.
The offer should appear before you have to pay for the flight. [Did [b]not work when I booked a flt today, 3/15/17.]

Note: Review the recent discussion in the thread about various other ways to try to locate offers as high as 50k+$50 credit.

Getting the statement credit:
MrMoonlight successfully purchased a Delta ecert (essentially a gift card) and received the statement credit. See this post..
Jacobsta811 also received $50 credit for $50 e-cert on both gold business and gold personal cards.
muji received $100 credit for $50 eCert on Delta Platinum card
sdsearch received $100 credit for $50 eCert on business Platinum card (see this post).

Yup, me too.
I think they have much more power. First tier phone CSRs are from Philippines. They will endlessly ask questions from their note books. You better off to ask mainland supervisor. Even then you'd be lucky to get someone with any sort of authority. They will open "ticket" and say it takes 30 to 90 days to research.
With twitter rep she asked me if I want to move to secure amex chat line where I told her about my targeted offer, explained there aren't "once in a lifetime" terms and send some links to blogs discussing this. Once she got an Idea she said she will get back to me with in few days. 3 days later I asked if there was an update and was told me my miles are being deposited. Had 75 (!) K in my account next day. So yes, get twitter account for sure.

Understood, thank you very much. I’m unfamiliar with the logistics of twitter, can it only be used on a smartphone? Can one have a twitter account and use it on a computer? When you post something on twitter, isn’t it there for anyone to see? Reads like Delta twitter reps monitor public tweets and then respond privately somehow? Reads like a twitter rep can initiate a secure amex chat line which I presume is private? Is secure amex chat line done via smartphone or computer or either? Thanks very much again.

I do not have a Twitter account, but I think your questions are answered here:

I did everything on my work PC. You do not have to have it installed on mobile device and can use web interface - send private message, new twits etc.
She send me link to secure chat and code to it. I had to login into amex account first, then follow the link with access code. kinda like conference line. CSR was really nice.

My son applied with a referral link from me in mid May and was approved. It was the 50k + 10K, no AF first year, and "$50 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase within first 3 months" etc. Am I correct in assuming that the $50 purchase can be towards a flight via delta.com and not just "incidentals" (necessitating the GC workaround)?

Delta.com purchases most certainly qualify. A favorite way of mine to get the statement credit is to use the card to pay for the taxes on a SkyMiles award flight. $5.60 Delta charge often.

I had to reread the offer. I thought I had to make a $50 purchase. I have an award ticket to get and will use it for that $5.60 tax! LOL. Brilliant.

My annual fee for my Delta Plat card hit so I decided to cancel the card. I did it via IM from my Amex account and it went through almost immediately. This was two days ago but the annual fee is still showing on my account. Since the rules say I have 30 days to cancel and not have to pay that fee, will this fee be taken off the account and in what time frame?

update: NVM, lol, the fee came off this morning...about 48 hours after cancelling the card.

Were you able to use the companion cert before you canceled? I'm going to be in the same spot but want to make sure I use the companion cert to recoup some value from the original AF back. I think I've put about $100+$5.60 of spend on it after the $1,000 bonus was met and don't see any reason to use it otherwise.

I never had a companion cert...and my spend was $3000 not $1000. Are you sure we're talking about the same card?

Yes, Delta Platinum comes with an annual companion certificate (after paying second AF, so after one full year) and my spend bonus was $1000, though it was a targeted 45K miles, 15K MQM, $100 statement credit for $1K. Current public offer is 35K/5K with the $100 statement credit for $1,000 spend. I know there was a recent 70K/10K for $3K spend offer.

I see it now, but you have to pay the annual fee, which is what I don't want to do.

Edit: Well, color me shocked...and thanks RumPatrol. Turns out even though I cancelled the card they gave me the very anyway.

Best way to get a Delta Amex card?

Hi everyone - I need to book two tickets one way from JFK -> Chicago (or MKE) for late December. Delta right now has a good fare. I need two tickets and will have 3 checked bags (2 suitcases and a guitar). I'm meeting a family member and taking them back. So yes I need to get to NYC too, but that would be without luggage.

When I'm ready to book the tickets on Delta's site, I'm getting an offer for a Delta card with 40k miles and $200 credit.

When I google for a Delta credit card I get an offer of 60k miles. But I'm guessing I couldn't use the card right away. Either offer says a $95 annual fee after the first year.

Which is the better deal? Or am I better off to go with a different card entirely? I cannot apply for Chase or Discover cards because of past financial trouble during a divorce during the recession (I had to settle with those banks). I've rebuilt my credit however and can apply with other banks.

FWIW I don't fly often but would probably take some quick trips during 2019 if I could use the miles. I can fly out of ORD, MDW or MKE. Thanks in advance

This feature may be available with both offers, see discussion here:

https://thepointsguy.com/news/tip-am...umber-airfare/

You will need to decide if 20,000 additional SkyMiles are worth more than the $200 credit. If you can meet the criteria to earn the credit, and if you do not fly often, I would probably take the 40,000 point offer to receive the credit.

Thank you for that info. I decided to take the $200 credit / 40k miles offer. I'll be able to use miles + cash for a trip we've been thinking of in the spring.
