As far as Delta eCard purchase to trigger $100 credit,
I see at https://www.delta.com/egift/eGiftPurchase.action
it appears any amount can be inserted? Is there minimum?
Will it currently trigger $100 credit on personal & busn Amex Platinums?
Alternatively, will be at MIA & EZE in Nov. for busn rt via AA.
Anything "Delta" at airports one can buy to trigger $100 credits?
(no plans currently to fly Delta)

So don't get caught in the false thinking that you're "saving" money by only getting a $50 eCard instead of $100 one. You're simply spending the same money earlier rather than later.

Were you using incognito browsers on both application simultaneously?
I actually just trimmed an AMEX card (and gave up $17 reward dollars) to make room for the targeted DL Gold card.

While there is a $50 minimum, keep in mind that Delta only allows 3 gift cards (any mix of eCards and physical gift cards) to be used for a single reservation purchase. So if you buy a bunch of $50 eCards instead of $100 eCards, that might just "raise" the cost of the flight for you later, since with $50 eCards you can only save at most $150 on a flight later, but with $100 eCards you can save up to $300 on a flight later.

Have the DL Plat card already but I signed myself up for Gold to get the 60k bonus. Going to refer the wife to same card and get 10k referral and 60k from her card as well. Need a couple of OW int'l award tix this spring so these offers worked out nicely.

I still have not received the 70k bonus from when this same(platinum) offer was around back in June/July. At that time hubby and I opened 3 total. Planning on doing the 4th this time so hopefully after all the bonuses are posted we'd each have to 140k+
Anyone else have the same issue with delay in the bonus miles? I've read that its been an issue with the spg card so I'm thinking its the same with delta as well

$50 eCard = future Delta taxes-fees. (& triggers $100 cc credit)
$50 remaining credit Plat Amex Delta on cc's = future ANY spending, right?
Future Delta flight with mine + wifey (4) total PlatAmexDelt
personal + busn cc's needs minimum $100 taxes-fees each
to make full use of (4) $50 eCards...? Why tie up remaining (4) $50 credits
to just Delta via (2) $100 eCards???
Why not just leave remaining cred. triggered on cc's??? Thanks in advance.
(goal of cc game for me is lowering total overhead, not method it is spent)

how long are eCards valid? does physical eCard last longer?

any reason to buy "credit trigger" at airport vs. online?

That is the reason sdreach tried to get across to you, that buying a $100 denomination is EASIER to use in the future than a bunch of $50 denomination. He is not trying to tell you how to save money, but rather, make the gift cards easier to use.
Regarding the validity period of the Delta gift cards of any form, you can go to Delta site to read the FAQ. Or, 2 seconds google would bring up the FAQ pages for you to peruse on anything and everything you need to know about DL gift cards of any form.
