CAUTION: In February 2019, American Airlines changed the coding of gift card transactions. Although there are a few successful data points since, in general, Gift Card purchases are now explicitly identified, and no longer reimbursed by American Express.
Reminder: you must enroll and select your airline BEFORE making a reimbursable purchase. http://www.americanexpress.com/airlinechoice -or- "Call the number on the back of your Card to select a qualifying airline."
Data Points on automatically reimbursed incidentals since 2017:
Admirals Club Memberships: Admirals Club Passes:
Wifi is provided by one of three third-party providers and is thus not eligible for the incidental credit.
* For items not automatically reimbursed but which are not excluded by Amex, you can try and request manual reimbursement from American Express; however, you may need to wait 14-28 days first.

What is the worst case time anyone has seen the credit post?
I am afraid I am past the normal credit posting time and may have to just buy another one, not sure what to tell amex if they want to do a manual credit post.

After seeing reported success of reimbursement for $200, I took the chance... IT WORKED!
Purchased $200 eGC on AmEx platinum on 12/5. Purchase posted 12/7. This morning, the meter shows I've used "all of my $200 Airline Fee Credit for this year." Waiting on reimbursement!
Did nothing special. The $200 charge posted same as the $50 charge I tested earlier with the Hilton Aspire card (type: miscellaneous tax(s), fee(s)). If you want to see how they code the charge, you have to click the "view all activity" link in the Account Activity section of the main page. That second page will give you details for how the charge is coded.

How do I see the wiki? I remember it used to show before but I cant figure out how to open it up.
Basically, I want to buy an e-giftcard like you all are doing. Is it straight from AA.com?
