Normal: 200 MR = 100 VX
Promo : 200 MR = 150 VX

Redeem for this exclusive offer from 12:00 a.m. CT on February 10, 2016 to 11:59 p.m. CT on March 10, 2016, to receive 50% additional Elevate points. Additional Elevate points will be awarded at the time of transfer. For each conversion of points into the Frequent Flyer program of a U.S. airline, a fee of $0.0006 per point, with a maximum fee of $99, will be charged to your Card account. We charge this fee to offset the federal excise tax we must pay on such conversions. The fee may be more or less than the actual amount of the excise tax we pay on any individual conversion. We may offer you the option to redeem points to cover this fee.

I transferred 250,000 MR points during the last VX promotion which included Gold Elevate status for a year. That was only 25% promotion and I wasn't that concerned about the fee. Used 90000 VX points yesterday to book 2 in business class on VA from LAX to BNE. No return trip availability in business as of yet but if nothing comes up I'll end up using my AA miles for that. VA new business class coming around May looks very nice. Rep did say that award seats on VA are few and far between this year.

I thought VA operated domestic only. Did you call up Virgin Australia and use the VA points to book your ticket?

There appears to be some terminological confusion.

VA refers to Virgin Australia "Velocity"
VS refers to Virgin Atlantic "Flying Club"
VX refers to Virgin America "Elevate"

Membership Rewards (USA) transfer to both VS and VX, but not to VA. This offer is for transfer to VX.

To redeem VX points for travel on flights operated by VA you would call Virgin America. Read more here:

I know...but add that fee to the VX partner booking fee and the fuel surcharges, and the award tickets starts to creep up. It's still great value just on the fees.

Points transferred count towards status?

In the last AMEX offer, if you transferred points it counted towards elite status. Is still the case for this offer?
