Data Point
Bought $50 DL Gift Cert on Jul 30.
Posted Jul 31 to Amex.
Travel Credit posted Aug 1.

Purchased DL domestic Y seats in a single transaction on 8/9.
Then, in a separate transaction, purchased DL Economy Comfort (C+ seats) using Amex Platinum on 8/9 ($96 each segment).
As noted in the wiki:

...reimbursed incidental charges have included baggage and other service fees, award and change fees (e.g., standby, SDC), taxes, in-flight purchases (not WiFi), lounge access fees, EC upgrade (seat assignment) fees,
However the author on this site suggests that one might need to argue with Amex: https://frequentmiler.boardingarea.c...s-still-works/
Will update on whether fees will be reimbursed.

If Amex is feeling stingy, they could argue now that C+ is a separate "experience", it's actually an upgrade which is specifically excluded.

But historically, these transactions post as "additional collection" and trigger automatic reimbursement.

Data point:

I paid $150 “redeposit fee” to cancel an award ticket on August 7

The $150 was credited by Amex on August 9

i don’t know if it is important or not, but I called and did the transaction via a human, rather than in app or website.

Indeed, and upon searching this thread and the forum, there doesn't seem to be a lot of certainty on this issue in recent months. We shall see…

Last year I set my airline to UA and Economy Plus seat assignment was reimbursed; this seems to be similar at least on face value.

So, purchased 8/9...
It was posted 8/11 as "upgrade charge" by Delta...even though the purchase process labeled it as "seat selection".
...there has been no reimbursement as of today (8/14). Maybe it's time to update the FAQ in this thread.

Do you all think that it's worth discussing with Amex about this? Maybe the "upgrade" labeling is making it difficult? The seat assignment fee with United Economy Plus works just fine, but Delta Comfort+ seems not to work...

Not after five days. Wait a few weeks to see if the charge is reimbursed automatically.

I have an odd amount of credit, will I get reimbursed for a $70 GC or should I buy a $50 card and use the remaining $20 for an approved charge?
