Can you purchase a Basic Economy and then later on change it to Main Cabin? Will that purchase be reimbursed?

Basic economy tickets can't be changed once the risk-free 24-hour cancellation period expires. If you did take a BE ticket and convert it to a main cabin ticket within the period, it seems likely that would be coded as an additional collection and be eligible for the credit if someone wants to try it. But that would only be $35+ at a time depending I think on domestic vs international and maybe the number of segments? Assuming add/collect remains a viable path then I think GC+remainder would be more efficient. Would be interesting to have the data point though.

DP
  • 10/22 Bought one way ticket for 269.3 = $50 delta gift card plus Hilton Aspire 219.30
  • 10/24 charge went from pending to posted
  • 10/25 meter moved without credit in account yet - presumably will show up in 1-2 days.

Point of interest - I thought that if the additional collection was too high (>200) it might not work but it appears to work at least to this level.

Please report back to confirm that AmEx reimbursed these fees.

BTW, $20.00 for 1,000 RDMs would be two cents per mile.

Is it linear pricing, so that 2,000 RDMs would cost $40.00 etc. with no quantity discounts?

Update: reimbursement posted today. Purchased a 3000 SM booster on Monday, charge posted on Wednesday, and reimbursement arrived Saturday.

I purchased a round trip ticket on 10/18 for $278.60 with $50 gift card so the total charged to Hilton Aspire was $228.60. the meter I have left of $220 has not moved and I have not revecied the credit, 10/24. It is showing up as "additional collection" in the details. Even tho I purchased the ticket on 10/18 it shows it was completed on 10/20. Is there a certain time frame I should wait or did I do something wrong?

update 10/25: meter has moved; the whole $220 that was left. No credit yet.

2 separate one ways with $50 gift cards on each bringing total to $196.00 last weekend. Nada..

Not sure how to get rid of the $250 credit at this point.

UPDATE:

After I saw the most recent post, I decided to check again..no credit yet but when I checked under the airline benefit it says:
You have used all of your $250 Airline Fee Credit for this year.

It will renew again starting Jan 2020

So feeling relieved and happy that the credit will show soon. Thanks all for your invaluable help with this!

Update 10/26: credit of $220 was given. The whole process took 1 week 1 day. Hilton Aspire. Not sure if this is a new DP as most of what I saw took about 4 days or so. If you guys donít get it right away, thereís still hope

Go to Amex online, and click on your benefits, airline benefits and the meter is there

If I purchase GOGO credits on the Delta app is that eligible for reimbursement as part of the Amex Airline Fee Program?

conshek Oct 26, 19 8:00 pm

Reimbursement

Has anyone purchased a one way ticket for a lower amount - $100 and under, and had it reimbursed without using a GC recently?

No, unfortunately those are billed directly from GoGo rather than Delta. :(

10/25 pm credit showed on transaction activity.

So for $219.30 this will trigger credit. Anyone have any reports of "Additional collections" of a higher value triggering it - i.e. 250+?
