Yeah. Contacted AmEx chat. The rep said "I understand the website is showing credit available but it is not the case, I see you made use of your credit in January" ... I still see the green bar and "credit available" though

Freaking bad website developers.

Anyone have any success having the credit cover Delta award ticket cancellation redeposit fee?

Balor Jun 18, 2017 10:27 pm

Anyone know if this will work with the Delta Gold/Platinum cards? They currently have a welcome bonus for a $100 statement credit on your first Delta purchase.
EDIT: Never mind, according to this post, it looks like it works:

Most likely they will be valid for the 5x. They have earned the 3x on the PRG for me in the past (with no counter-balancing removal of bonus points due to the credit). So, free 1,000 points on the Platinum and 300 on the PRG.

To answer my own question, I received 5x points on my 4X $50 Delta Gift Cards. A nice 1000 MR bonus :)

Bought 2x $50 eGCs in one transaction with just opened PRG on the 27th. Charges posted the 28th and reimbursements posted the 29th :)

Airline Credit "Transferable"?

Hello everyone. I did some searching of the forum but nothing too comprehensive so I apologize if my question has already been asked.

If I am flying with a friend who bought a separate ticket, am I able to use my Platinum card to upgrade her seat with me such that the airline fee credit would be triggered?

mia Aug 4, 2017 7:42 am

It doesn't matter who the upgrade is for, but as written the terms do not cover upgrades from one cabin to another. They do cover seat selection fees, which includes better seats in the same cabin. In practice much depends on the amount of the charge and how the airline characterizes it. Which airline did you choose?

efolsom54 Aug 4, 2017 7:57 am

I purchased 4 x $50 and is showing on my statement as "Passenger Ticket" in document type. Does this mean that they will not reimburse?

This is normal. The Wikipost at the top of the thread mentions eCert purchases may initially authorize (show pending) as ticket purchases
.

I read that, but the purchase has moved from pending to posted and it shows in posted as a ticket purchase. Just wondering if that will change.

mia Aug 4, 2017 8:38 am

Are you seeing the same as in post 355? If this change had occurred in April and it affected reimbursements we would know about it well before August.

That is exactly what my statement looks like...

mdosu Aug 4, 2017 11:24 am

comes down to merchant coding of the transaction. If it's similar to a straight purchase of a ticket, then you're likely not going to get the credit reimbursement.

The best way to get coverage for all situations, IMO, is try to redeem for gift cards (on select airlines websites) to get the credit, and use those cards to purchase upgrades and what not. Though note, every airline has a policy on what you can you giftcards on.

I was referring to within the cabin but a "better"/premium seat, but it is good to know that upgrades to whole other cabin does not qualify for the credit. It is Delta Airlines.

I have moved teegaall's question into the dedicated Delta airline fee reimbursement thread. Use Search this Thread to see if there are reports of this type of expense reimbursed or denied.

EXAMPLE: HERE

Thank you, Mia. I was able to get reimbursed for my friend's seat as well but we had to call it in to Delta versus her just using my credit card online.

Upgrade DL award flight?

I may have missed it...but read through and couldn't find a definitive answer...

Will the credit trigger for upgrading a saver award ticket to a C+ ticket? This would be instead of just booking a C+ ticket using all miles.

We're traveling DTW-LIH, then hop to OGG, then OGG-DTW in Sep 2018. I'm debating nabbing the 60k bonus on this card, and would like to know about getting this travel credit maxed out.

Of course if all else fails, I've read here how to use it up on DL e-gift cards.

Thanks!

It should. Mine posted in January when I upgraded our TATL DL flight to C+

This is because TATL C+ is a seat selection fee, whereas domestic and TPAC it is a seperate fare class.

I googled this but couldn't find it. What is TATL?

Maybe our better bet is to try to pay a few extra bucks to select an exit row seat and forget about bothering to try and book C+. From what I gather from this, the fee for picking an exit row seat should trigger the credit...?

Thanks!

So...it appears these DL e-gift cards are kind of a pain in the butt to use.

However, from a chat at DL.com, I'm told that you can use DL gift cards towards miles+cash fares. 3 certs per ticket just like a paid fare. Anyone have experience with this?

Award flights to HI are 35k miles + $145 for C+. With the Amex Plat $200 for 2017 I will have $300 with a total of 6 X $50 e-gift cards.

This option looks like it might be the way to go!

guitarguy19 Aug 25, 2017 9:43 am

Question:

Anyone have any feedback on whether seat selection fees such as selecting an exit row will be reimbursed?

Debating on regular cabin or C+ for DTW to LIH and then OGG to DTW.

Award flights in C+ are getting me only about 1.3 c per mile, 2 ish c per mile on regular coach award flights...so debating on just picking an exit row and calling it good enough.

Reviews of C+ has me thinking that it's not worth much more than a regular economy seat. Extra leg room is nice, but much more than an exit row? Free cocktail would be nice but don't really care. Already have priority boarding with DL Plat Amex, so that doesn't matter. Dedicated overhead space also won't matter...we'll be checking bags. Power at the seat will be nice but don't most planes have that anyway nowadays?

sdix Aug 25, 2017 10:25 am

4 x $25 GC's bought Aug 23rd. Reimbursed 24th.

Pay baggage fees after flight is booked

I have used my $200 credit for this year. I have DL flights booked for next February. Can I use my Amex card after January 1st to pay the baggage fees for these flights? Is there a place on the website to add baggage and pay fees months after the flight is booked?
