Referrals and self-referrals are an important part of churning Canadian-issued American Express cards. It is appropriate to discuss how the referral process works in this thread. However, please do not offer or request referrals here.

AMEX Platinum Rewards - $699/year, 60K MR (via referral) after $1000 spending in 3 months vs. 50K non-referral + earn 15K MR for each referral you make
(Note: from Mar 23 - Jun 29 the bonuses were 75K welcome and 25K referral points)
New as of March 23 2016
AMEX Business Platinum Rewards - $399/year, 75K MR (via referral) after $5000 spending in 3 months vs. 40K non-referral + earn 25K MR for each referral you make
(Note: as of Jun 30, the Business Platinum is still at 75K welcome and 25K referral points).
New as of May 2016
AMEX Gold Rewards - $150/year, FYF, 25K MR after $1500 spending + $50 cashback from GCR
(Note: as of mid-May 2016, Gold will now earn 5K points for referring and increased from $500 to $1500 required spending. FYI: from Jan 11 to mid-May, the Gold card earned 0 referral points.)
AMEX Business Gold Rewards - $250/year, FYF, 30K MR after $5000 spending (or 40K via referral)
AMEX Air Miles Platinum - $65/year, 2000 Air Miles after $1500 spending + $30 GCR cashback

Supposingly, this is what the first time the "new" referral page showed up and no one will get the referral point for gold personal card after this date. But as I pointed out, I still being able to get referral point through the old page, which I did not generate before Jan. 11. I just click refer a friend and it just randomly showed up.

Thanks! Would you believe it....when I tried again,I get the new referral page!
Update: I use firefox on both my laptops.One always shows the old referral page,one always shows the new referral page.Odd.

So how do you guys get 'friends' to use your referral links? Has anyone actually received the maximum of 225,000 points from referrals?

Its too bad that I've lost the incentive to introduce the Gold Rewards though..........ah well,lost business.

My plan was that if I didn't get the 60K i would cancel and get the AF refunded. After having the card for two weeks now I have reached the 1K spend and immediately saw a 10K bonus in my account. Any advice on what to do based on recent experience with the Platinum Amex? I know that sometimes not all bonuses amounts are posted in the full amount and that some come later and sometimes you have to ask for them. I'm hoping that the 10K is simply the extra amount above the usual 50K bonus for this card and that the 50K will appear shortly.

haven't messaged AMEX yet, will wait it out, since they'll say 8-10 weeks officially anyway
I suspect next batch (like Biz Gold) will deposit the 50K bonus

Apologies in advance, but I wanted clarification...
I have the personal GOLD card that says you will not receive after Jan 11th.
If I'm able to see the "old" referral page, it says to FIND (choose) your current card - so if I click on personal GOLD, it will tell me that I can refer to someone, but not receive any points.
Could I choose a different card (ie. Gold business) as a referral nets 10k MR, and 40k MR for the new card.
Do I need to have the Gold Business to get the 10k, or having the Gold personal "might" get me the 10k bonus?
I haven't referred someone before so not sure if this is the way to choose/refer other cards that you don't currently have.

I've been receiving 15,000 points for my referrals for sometime and just had two post at 10,000. Have we lost our little bonus? Anyone seen similar results in the past couple days? First post was Saturday with the lower amount.
