Thank OP for bring this to our attention. I didn't get any email but I was be able to register.
it is kind of the same as as the $10 per $50 purchase at ESSO, just that in stead of asking the cashier to ring my three $50 gift cards in 3 separate transactions, I can just do it once

But unlike ESSO, one would want the purchase protection and/or extended warranty for larger purchases.
