It seems the "breakeven" is 25% (i.e. 1=1 now or 1=0.8*1.25=1 later). So, the question becomes what is the likelihood that a > 25% bonus will be offered going forward.

MR: Transfer MR points to BA points prior to 10/1/16 or wait for bonus?
I have no pressing need to redeem a ba.com award in the foreseeable future. I know that the conversion rate to BA changes on Oct 1, 2016. I think I will hold out for a bonus conversion down the road, perhaps around the new year.
I know it's a risk. But is my approach sound?

I know you mean 2015.
I think there is little risk that there will be a Membership Rewards promotion greater than 1000:1000 in 2016, and inasmuch as BA recently repriced their redemption charts there seems to be low risk that they would do so again in 2016.
However, it is so easy to earn Avois through other programs that I cannot see a compelling reason for a speculative transfer from Membership Rewards.

It all depends on what your travel plans and goals are, as everyones situation is different. For whatever it is worth, I transferred all mine to Avios to take advantage of short haul flights at 4,500. I personally think the majority of MR transfer partners suck, while others may find it valuable.

Don't know. But if, after tonight, Amex should offer an MR => BA transfer bonus of more than 25%, you'd be better off waiting till then.

I did two transfers the same day on the 29th, one earlier in the day (at work) and another later in the day when I got home. I noticed that both transfers had two different dates. The earlier one had September 29th and the later one had September 30th, but I did them on the same day (September 29th). I found that odd and thought perhaps because it's "British" that it's already a day ahead? I'm on PST time.
