How did you receive the offer, through the mail, email, online in your americanexpress.com account, browsing americanexpress.com -or- did you "find" it elsewhere on the Internet?
mia, do you have any insight on my question (post 895?) Thanks

Hahhaha I was too fired up to look for the appropriate thread! Thanks for pointing that out, Mia.

I actually just used the regular click-through link with AMEX online when it first published the 45K/20K offer. No incognito mode or anything. I saved a screenshot of the offer, so maybe that will give me some credibility.

I do not remember this offer. Are the terms still online anywhere?

Anyone finding that it takes a long time for points to post?

Not just the bonus but like normal purchases, they don't show up well after the billing cycle closes and I've paid off the statement.

You must be new to Membership Reward program. It takes TWO billing cycles to see your earned points. This is just how AMEX own cards work. Your earned points do not show up until the 2nd statement after you had earned it.

I'm having trouble getting the offer to come back up (and i was too stupid to take a screenshot), but basically:

1st year (now): Spend $2,000 in 3 months, get 40k points, AF waived

2nd year (July 2017): Spend $2000 in 3 months, get 25k points, AF is now charged ($195)

So if AF is charged on July 2017 statement, but I spend the $2k immediately after that, is there a chance I can get the points and close the card before the 30 day window for the AF refund is up?

So, between the 40k+25k two-year offer and the 50k one-year offer, I'm thinking there is little difference between the two offers. The second offer gives the extra 15k, but I'm guessing that would be close to the deal I would get if I called retention next year before cancelling. Any thoughts on preference?

Edit: I went with the 40+25. My logic was that I would be in the same spot or within probably 5k anyway. This way, it's one less call next year, one less chance for someone to go over my account, and who knows, it may make them scrutinize me less when I call for a retention bonus the following year. Although I feel like I could likely haggle/HUCA for a little more, this is guaranteed.

All I see is the 25k/$2k min. Any tips for the 50k bonus?

Interesting, and oddly specific. Any particular VPN you recommend in general?
