Maloy, I agree with AsianRick. Scroll to my post No. 49 above, which sums up my thinking as a DFW hub captive. With any points/miles program, there's an omnipresent risk of devaluation, of course, but I'm still going to transfer most of my balance to Avios. Being able to fly roundtrip to the East or West coasts for 14,000 points or so (after giving effect to the 40% transfer bonus) is simply too good to pass up -- at least in my humble opinion. It's not going to get any better in my lifetime.

Edit: I don't know why it didn't occur to me to say this before, but this transfer bonus effectively makes MPs worth 3.15 cents each (using my standard valuation of $450 for a mid-con flight so, e.g., 1.8 cents for AA miles, which is about what the consensus value is).

I just applied for it today. Need to card asap, statement closes on 1/15. Do you know if you have to wait for statement to close to get the points? Or can you transfer right after your spend?

As long as I get the card in the next couple of days, 10K is no problem with BB/RB.

I think if you make the payment right away, you can call and have the points pushed thru... not sure if they can quick-post any sign-up bonus though.

Reminder

This 40% offer is the only BAEC transfer bonus in 2014. In 2013 Membership Rewards (USA) offered three smaller transfer bonuses (20%, 30%, 35%) to BAEC.

Please reply to the poll at the top of the thread to indicate which approach you prefer.

A 10K signup bonus on my new Everyday Card credited on the day I hit the spending requirement, but the MR points from the actual spend were not credited until the statement was paid.

Watch out for the BA Carrier Imposed Fees . Can be huge. Always check if you can get away with no or low fees by using non BA metal.

Non stop AA, US or AS within the US are best ... shorter segments are even better

Someone mentioned nonstop CX and MH flights has great redemption rate too in Asia.

You may wish to read about BAEC's Household Account feature:

AMEX Canada has gone completely quiet with their transfer bonuses. Fingers crossed for 2015!

I hadn't been in here in a while since I figured BA transfer bonuses were a thing of the past, but just received an email this morning about the promo. Wish I had known about this before making a big EI redemption a month ago, but better late than never, I suppose!
