FAQ
Q: Where is the lounge?
A: Terminal 3, F concourse, right by Gate F2 (formerly gate 75) and the F-1 security checkpoint (that has PreCheck, sometimes).

Q: Can I visit there if I'm departing from another terminal?
A: Absolutely. Security at SFO will let passengers departing from any concourse at SFO go through security in any concourse, even ones that aren't connected behind security. At the moment, Terminal 3 concourses E and F, and International Terminal concourse G are connected airside to the Centurion lounge. Some other concourses are connected to each other airside, but not to the point that you can walk airside to the Centurion. However, with a PreCheck security lane right next to the entrance to the lounge, it can be quite easy to clear security twice if necessary.

Q: Can I visit if I'm arriving at SFO?
A: It depends. If you're arriving in the aforementioned concourses E, F, or G, then yes, but only if you have a connecting flight. If you're arriving in one of the other concourses, then security at SFO won't let you clear into E, F, or G without a boarding pass departing SFO that day. If you're arriving internationally, again, you'd need a same-day SFO departing boarding pass to clear security.

Shower at 11am on a weekday

thinking of getting the Amex Platinum card just to use the shower at SFO on a weekday at 11am. I have 3 hours to connect. Read that there is just one shower at SFO. How likely I can get access to a shower? Thanks.

If that one time shower is the main reason to get the Pat card, maybe check out this shower facility as a cheaper alternative:

Don't know the answer to your question. Not sure that anyone has enough data points for a meaningful answer.

If you have any Amex you can buy a day pass to the Centurion for $50. I'm sure the staff would be happy to assess your chances of showering before selling you the pass.

There are also other pay use lounges at SFO.

This is the CL I use most, just ahead of DFW. The lounge is certainly getting progressively busier. Hopefully Amex is seeing this in the data as well and will be able to react.

Interesting that tables are reserved for Centurion card holders and I always see a steady stream of guests escorted to these seats by staff. Must be a quite a few Black cards in the area....

Fortunately I've never witnessed a long line at check in as noted above. Crowding to the point where no seats are available, yes. Nothing that a little patience solves.

I'd appreciate any recent reports of the evening foodstuffs. (Deciding if it is worth a walk over from Int'l A on an upcoming trip.)

The lunch/dinner spread is normally put out around 11 AM PST if I'm not mistaking. From left to right it consist of
  • Grilled Chicken Thighs
  • Beef Shank (pulled beef) or Pork Belly
  • Brussels Sprouts (while not breaded, these are cooked in the deep fryer)
  • Rice
  • Vegetable Curry
  • Assorted Salad Bar

If there is enough time, and you don't mind clearing security again it may be worth it. The food is decent. However, it can be quite crowded at times, with lines from the buffet back to the bar.

Arrived at the lounge approximately 11:20AM, and it was about 60% full. Now (noon), I would say it's around 80-90% full.

Thanks. I haven't had the opportunity to visit for several months. I usually grab a seat on the back side of the communal table (and start with a visit to the wine tasting machines).

The food is good the first time, not so much the 50th time.

I'm at the point where unless I have an UA flight, the crowding has made it pretty much not worth my while to visit. For me, the standout feature of the club is the wine and drinks available...but I drink at least as well on the ground, so a few freebies aren't really worth much of a hassle to me.

I had a recent flight on DL, and found their SFO club way more peaceful than the Amex lounge, and the food, while not as substantial, was still of a good quality and sufficient for a pre-flight snack. I'm not particularly loyal to any airline, so maybe I give more consideration to flying DL in the future.

The SFO SC is one of their best; also accessible with Amex Plat. My big wish was that the lunch/dinner menus at the SFO Centurion were different, and changed with some sort of frequency. (Yearly? Monthly? Weekly?)

Passed through on Sunday morning around 10AM. It was pretty full, guessing maybe 75-80% of capacity, not a kid in site anywhere, all adults. I was about to walk out, when a small two top opened up so I grabbed it and had a quick brekkie sandwich and a screwdriver. So many people kept streaming in that I said, heck with it, I'll go find peace at the G United Club.

Then walking past that, the line to get in the United Club extended almost to the security exit in G!!

Hell with it...went and sat at the gate and it was plenty peaceful and quiet until boarding about 20 minutes later. Kinda funny when the gate is the quiet place and the lounges are madhouses.

Completely agree with you assessment and I've shared this thought on FT before. I realize everyone loves this new model of cheap, credit card based access to enter clubs, but unfortunately by making it cheaply available we are now going to have serious supply/demand imbalance going forward.

When the lounge is crazier than the terminal you are trying to a escape, that is a major, major problem.

Regards

Next revenue stream for airlines: Gate Area Access Pass. Mind the GAAP!
