[Expired] HHonors Gold for USA Platinum Chargecard holders
 

Heard from an Amex employee: From 11/1 to 12/31, Platinum members can call Amex and get upgraded to HHonors Gold for free. Must have your HHonors number available.

In which country?

Seems like HHonors practically gives away Gold status with so many ways to get it. Don't need it the status, but if it works for others I may call if it goes up to 2015

I am in the United States. I just talked to AMEX and they know nothing about this.

I just called and got upgraded to HHonors Gold status. The rep said it could take about a week to post on my account but it's supposedly a new benefit to platinum card holders.

I just called AmEx, and was told that the benefit is on-going. Not sure if that is true, as I've read that it is a promotion through the end of this year.

Sooo I just called Platinum Card Services, and they didn't even ask for my card number, just my HHonors account number. Have their systems really gotten that much better this quickly where they can match the phone # to the card #? With EVERYTHING else I typically have to give my card number. Still though, now I don't need the Citi Reserve card for HH Gold :D

Interesting - I'm currently HH Gold, but will most likely not requalify this year. I wonder if calling in will extend it for me.

If it's truly an ongoing benefit, that would be great since I'm switching to SPG, but will still use HH as my secondary when there isn't an SPG property available.

I struggled to hit gold and no way I will be able to hit Diamond this year (will be 8 stays short). Hope this benefit becomes permanent.

Just called in and got it. I already have hilton gold through a visa card but this gives me a reason to cancel.

Can it be gifted like the SPG status? I have HH Gold through Feb 2015, but I'd like to gift it to my dad whose travel has cut back a lot since retiring but still likes to stay at HH properties on vacation. I'll call this evening after work and post their answer if no one responds before then.
