MR (USA) to VX Virgin America, 40% bonus through 9.30.2013

I just saw an ad for a 40% transfer bonus to VX on FT on my phone. Didn't see any mention of a VX bonus when I clicked through the link to the AMEX MR site and spoke to a rep who could not confirm. Thoughts?

Yup, this is now active on the MR site:

"Get 40% more Elevate points when you transfer Membership Rewards® points to your Virgin America Elevate account by 9/30/2013. Terms apply.
Now starting at 200 points."

Virgin America Elevate points can also be redeemed for travel on Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Australia, Singapore Airlines, and Hawaiian Airlines.

So currently, I can transfer 50k MRs to Elevate and get 35k points which is enough for a RT upper class seat on Virgin Atlantic? Pretty good deal!

I've just heard redeeming can be a PITA, which is why I'm holding off now. =/

Weird, if I click the link on the homepage for MR, it takes me to SPG transfer.

For ORD this appears to be accurate, but don't forget the $980 in taxes and fees.

Does anyone understand the Elevate points to Kris miles conversion? I'm trying to figure out the reward requirements to get from San Francisco to Hong Kong compared to other programs.

You don't convert them, you redeem through VX.

Correct. The redemption tool is here:

http://www.virginamerica.com/vx/rede...ers_redeem_004

SFO-HKG-SFO round-trip in economy class on SQ requires 40,000 VX points. Business is VX 95,000 points.

The restriction that you quoted was published by Virgin Atlantic Airways. Does Virgin America have the same agreement with SQ?
