Account Closure After Point Acceleration
I opened an AMEX Business Gold account Oct. 24, spent $5,000+ on it before my statement closing date of Dec. 25, and then was able to accelerate the point posting so I could transfer MR points to my VA FF account before the VA transfer bonus expired Dec. 29. I would now like to close this account, so the 12-month clock for applying for a new card of this type may begin ticking.
Because my MR points were accelerated, however, do I need to wait until after my next billing statement, which is when the MR points would have posted if not for the acceleration? My concern is that I don't want AMEX to be able to claim the points weren't earned yet and that I owe the per-point fee AMEX charges if you don't repay borrowed MR points in time.
