The "Membership Rewards Plus" Program

Got this announced in the mail today from Amex. It is being touted as giving you "The freedom to travel on your own terms." It provides exemptions from blackout dates and frequent flyer seat restrictions but puts someahte severe limits on the value of the tickets that it will supply. They are charging $75 to enroll if you already have a Platinum or Rewards Plus card, but I have not figured out from the fine print how much it will cost, or even if you can enroll some other Amex card.
It's no good for me because I only use my miles for international upgrades, but it might be interesting to others.
For more info it tells you to call 800-443-9251 and mention code 0209.

I think it's pretty worthless. They give you about 1 cent per dollar spent in value.

Is this equivalent to our Membership Rewards "Classic" for UK card holders?

don't think it's a good idea, esp the part that if your prefer carrier is at higher fare then you have to pay for difference...
will pass unless more details and better benefits is there.
